New for 2019 Nosler bullets

Saw this on another forum and thought I'd share. That .277 150 grain accubond would be a thumper with some RL 26. I just hope they publish the actual BC and not some inflated numbers like they did with the LRAB.

How’s that Nosler accubond shoot? My AR10 is a fan of the 150gr ballistic tip but I’ve heard it’s not the best on deer - tends to have explosive expansion.
150gr sure is heavy for .270 right? I was thinking most factory .270 loads are around 120-130gr.

13 deer and counting in the last three or so years on my 18” barrel 308. Handloded 165gr AB chrono at 2760 so almost 30-06 velocity.
One 190ish lb buck dropped at 290yds with it. I have the utmost confidence in it. A second 230lb buck drilled through both shoulders and dropped was the only one that I didn’t have an exit wound on. Stopped just on the underside of skin on other side of shoulder.
On a 16” ar10 I would probably shoot the 150s though to keep velocity up. The 165 is a little sturdier bullet and likes more velocity for expansion from some reports.
**not all deer shot by me. Some are taking into account when I have loaned the gun**

Alliant came out with a new powder a few years ago that really shines in the 270, 3000 fps with 150's. I'm gonna try some with a Hornady 140 grain BTSP. I'm hoping to get 3100 from my 22" barrel.

Would be nice to get my hands on some of that powder one of these days

The old classic bullet weights for .270 have been 130 and 150.

I've seen a lot of people poo poo on the ballistic tip, but I've used a 130gr in a .270 for nearly 30 years and it's absolutely devastating. I've never failed to find one hit with a ballistic tip, even with some considerably poor shots.
I think most people are pushing them far too fast.

I've only shot one deer w/ a NAB, 140 gr in a 284 Win Remington XP-100. OTOH, there's a handgun hunter i know of in WV who kills about 50 whitetail deer/year and he really like the Accubond in numerous weights/calibers. Someday I'll work up a load w/ the 130 gr NAB for my 260 Rem XP. I wish they made an AB in 120 gr 7mm.

I push a BT real fast in 257WBY and 300WBY. Works great. I like the AB as well.

My local guy has some but he is high on it. 32.00 per lb I think it was. Which is odd because he is usually very good on prices on reloading supplies. I've tried finding it somewhere else to no avail so I may just have to bite the bullet so to speak.

If you want any in the next few months I’d jump on it. Supposedly Alliant is awaiting a shipment from their production facility in Europe. Does he ship?

I don't know if he would ship it or not with the Hazmat deal on powder. I'll ask him for you though. Last time I was in there a month or so ago he had 5 or 6 of the 1 lb containers.

I'm still perplexed as to why Nosler hasn't put a ballistic tip on their Partition bullets.
I haven't had an issue yet with accuracy, but I don't like the fact that the lead tip deforms a bit from bolting a round into the chamber.
I'm sure they have their reasons, but I'd just like to know, as I think it would improve the bullets performance.

Partition is a cup and core non bonded bullet. It doesnt need help expanding, The front would fail violently with a ballistic tip.
It would work better with the swift a frame

Best I can tell that's what Nosler marketed the Accubond as, a tipped partition. Although disimilar in construction their performance is similar.

Rem corelockes still deadliest mushroom in the woods.

all these years using them(since 1995), I never realized it wasn't bonded...but I'm guessing the bonded technology wasn't around then and they didn't fix what wasn't broke.

yeah the dissimilar in construction is what makes you stick to the tried and true
Thanks for the answers guys.

I love partitions just like they are. I do get frustrated about the tips getting all buggered up but I just keep one good one. Never noticed a difference in accuracy

That’s the point of the accubonds is a much more respectable bc compared to partition. Under 200-300 yards it’s a wash but after that the higher bc of the accubonds win out

Damn, that is some serious velocity. What powder are you using? I haven’t used s chrono to verify velocity but according to the 2010 Hornady book, I should be pushing 2650ish out of my 18” AR10.
My good shooting loads:
150gr Sierra Gameking, 44gr Varget
150gr Nosler BT, 44gr Varget (would’ve been under 1” if not for the flier)
150gr Hornady SST, 44gr Varget
Despite the 1:10 twist of my Faxon barrel, it really likes the 150gr bullets with a moderate powder charge. I’m hoping to work up a good load with a Barnes TTSX 150gr since they perform so well on deer. Then again the SST has been very good to me this season.
