Gotta bring in new blood every so often.

Do y’all do any AI and collect your bull(s) or just go the old fashioned route?

Old fashioned. We do it as a hobby. If you have some pasture, you might as well have something cool to look at and get an ag exemption on property taxes in TX.

We run a bull on 15-18 cows and have a set of 12-15 calves each year depending on young heifers coming breeding age, etc.

It allows us to keep the best and cull the rest. Just bring in some new balls every 3-5 years. I keep an eye out for quality bulls coming off of big operations and snipe them when the stars align.

He better.

Nah, they gave me a big inventory of progeny pics of calves he has sired.

He’s 4 years younger than Gumdrops so plenty of gas in the tank. Gumdrops is still doing his job, but he’s 12 years old. I think it’s a good trade going forward.

I think it’s an optical illusion. He’s standing on a hill and they are on the hill behind him. The grass just blends together...

To quote Don Gay, “look at the clown stabbers on that thing.”

Although I know that’s not their temperament.
