Currently have a rnt microhen, Haydel red leg, AR keyhole style call, and a D.C. Woody on the lanyard.

Haydel's red leg. I've had plenty of different calls but time and again the RL-99 has done me right. You can get loud with it if need be, but you can also be soft and gravel-y when they're closing. It's what I have confidence in, so it's what I blow.

I use a Wayne Betts or a David Gaston call according if I am hunting fields or timber. Most quality calls are effective if used properly.

You don't need high dollar calls to kill em. I Fell for it out of curiosity I guess, different calls are fun to tinker with though.

I've got way more calls than I care to admit. Got a bit of a collection problem but my favorites to blow while hunting are an Echo Diamondwood, RNT Daisy Cutter, and RNT DC Mondo.

JJ Lares Hybrid and 2 Bayou Beast duck calls on the lanyard this morning. If you want a really nice sounding double reed look up Bayou Beast callc on FB. They are hand made and cost $30.00 I believe.

I’ve got several ranging from RNT Daisy cutters to Echo Pure Meats and various others. My favorite is either a RM calls CWF or a Bryce Decker Tyrant. Solid calls

Ever since I was a kid in Northern Cal I been using a $12 Haydels DR 85. My nephew got me a precision high end Lares for 100 bucks, shoot I wouldn't use that thing to prop up a wobbly table. There's never been a call as good a Haydels!

Seems like Haydel’s is the way to go.. any specific one? I would really like to get a wooden one.

Start with a. Haydell. Easy to blow, and sounds ducky. IMHO a Shane Roten sounds the most like a mallard hen.
It matters less witch call you use and more when to blow it. Also if you hunting an area low on mallards, blowing a mallard hen call often is ill advised. Pintail -teal whistles, and grey duck calls will produce better.

Haydels make a good grey duck call? I never blew a grey duck call. I only started calling about 2 years now. But I been hunting all my life. I just hunted with people that blew the hell out of duck calls..

They have several wooden calls. The coco-acrylic is like a red leg, which is like a dr-85. The boisd'arc call is tuned like the dirty rice, which is like the Cajun squeal. FYI. The dr-85 tuning is opened up a little more than the Cajun squeal and clones. Based on personal experience. Haydels 2017 Catalog

Like the microhen? I've got Daisy Cutter Diablo, DR85, and a Wench on the lanyard right now. I was thinking of adding a Microhen, Lil Richie, or Short Barrel.
