Near baton rouge. Combo duck / goose is ok.
Honestly anywhere between Jackson ms and new Orleans would be fine.
Already tried honeybrake. Nothing available until late January...

I've been going to Doug's for years with zero complaints. They're below Lake Arthur, an easy drive from BR.

Booking hunts this late is about like renting a blind on Liberty Farm Rd or Stackbarrel hunting club.
Lubbock for canada's and cranes is best bet or try Ok for both. Temped to drive to houston and catch SW to Lubbock to hunt them.

You can try Colby Daniels. Hes in Mer Rouge LA, about 3 hours from BR. No idea if he’s got openings but it’s worth a shot

If you’re willing to go down to Venice, captain Jordy Bloodsworth with Blood Supply Outdoors has some openings.

Since you threw out Jackson, MS, I guess you don't have an issue with going out of state. If that is not a deal killer, I would look at Commander's Corner in Wilmot. AR. They have some really solid property and used to have some private timber too.
I know another poster said Top Gun. They are pretty solid as well. Also, there is Gordon Markle with Mallard Crossing Guide Service. Gordon is a great guy and he has some good pits just East of Monroe and also has access to timber.

Odds are you'll be going back again and again. If you can hit it right too the ducks will be thick in those fields at shooting time....about an hour before the cranes and geese get their lazy asses out of bed LOL. There is also some good evening duck shoots in the area....the action only lasts an hour if that but when it is right it is right as right gets.
It was still possible, 2 seasons ago, to get access to private property an hour or so from Lubbock in any direction. It wasn't easy or guaranteed but it was possible. The outfitters are tying everything up further and further from town but they ain't got everything tied up and some land owners would prefer going to a nut thumping than have an outfitter lease their place....Texans are a strange lot LOL.
The birds also do not stop at the New Mexico border....while there aint anywhere near as many there is almost no pressure and most landowners are VERY open to the idea of letting you on their place because it isn't something they are asked about often. Again, far fewer numbers, but I would prefer working 2 groups of birds and never firing a shot on my own than killing a limit every day with an outfitter....

If you want to stay "local" I would try Full Strap and Stringer on Catahoula Lake. Blake normally has openings and can make it happen if you want to make a hunt. I have hunted several opening weekends out there with him and his kids.
As far as HoneyBrake if you feel like spending almost $1K for a hunt then go far it. They had quoted me like $2500 for a weekend. Pretty much just paying to say you have hunted there..... Hunting is ok but not $1K a hunt good. If you want to spend that kind of money just go to Oklahoma. That my friend is going to be the new Stuttgart here in the new couple of years.

Blake is a great guy who will put you on ducks . Honeybrake is awesome opening weekend . They also could possibly bring you to Catahoula if they don't have birds . Hunted the delta plantation for 30 years , it ain't what it used to be . Great for doves over sunflowers.

I'll second that Blake is good people, I've hunted with him. I've also called him for some folks and had him admit he didn't have birds, to call back later. Thats pretty straight for a guide.
Colby is also good people. Either one is solid.
