Need plans or an idea, big tree fell and they had to cut all the ivy off it so need sunbrella type of fabric or roof design or something. My handyman was going to build something but had a stroke. any ideas appreciated.

12" x 10" trellis or Pergola,
A couple of Popeyes napkin should do it.

Deck it with plywood, roll out some roll roofing, and roof cement the seams.

Tin roof. Get it at Lowe's.

I saw someone use tinted Plexiglas on one the other day. It was surprisingly decent looking. They doubled up on the main seams so it wouldn't leak...

12x10 tarps on sale at Lowe's. Classic blue color for a classy wife.

No problem, it's not an ideal solution as far as pergolas go but they left the edges far enough away from the top edges so that it didn't ruin the pergola look when looking at it from the sides. If you want specific info for what they bought/ how they did it, I can easily get it for you. Just say the word...

My dad just used this tin that has a copper look on the bottom, looks really nice from underneath, he painted all the wood hangars copper as well

You can get tin in most colors these days cut to whatever length you need. Thats what I would do.

Is the trellis still in good shape? Assuming it has zero slope, I wouldn't put a roof on it. That sunbrella type fabric would be a good choice, still lets water through but provides shade as well.
If you are re-doing the trellis on top to accept a roof (and adding slope) then go for it, but I wouldnt put metal roofing on a tabletop.

This is the bigger issue.

At least for a few years, then it will become stained and ugly.
Pergola with a roof is kinda odd anyway. I would try to get some kind of slope in the roof if you can. Even if you can set the centerline up 1 inch, sloping down along the 10ft length will give you a 1% slope that will get water to run off instead of puddle.
