I bought the pocket hole kit from Harbor Freight. Saved money and works just as good as the Kreg.
Thanks, I hadn't thought about that. I need a couple of things from there anyways and have some coupons I got in the mail to use.

see one that has one hole for $19 on Amazon,
Only one I've ever had, and have done a bunch with it. Its fine, just takes a bit more effort to get it setup on your board.

I bought 1 of these a month or so ago. What size screws are you using?
I like how easy it is to use with the clamp, but am concerned with how short of a pocket hole and joint it makes. The Kreg Mini or Jr is what I've used for 7+ years, but it gets tedious reclamping and repositioning for every pocket hole. The Kreg uses a 2 1/2" screw for 2x4's and the Harbor Freight uses 1 1/2" screws.
Just wanted to know everybody's thoughts that own a Harbor Freight one.

If going in to N.O. for a Dr. visit only makes it better, then by all means do so.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
the family is fine, Andrew still talks about the build at your place...hopefully it's something he never forgets.
Good times, good memories and with good friends

quote:I 2nd the Harbor Freight one. Aluminium construction instead of plastic and it can drill pocket holes in 1"x's or 2"x's.
I would skip on the Kreg and get the Drill Master from Harbor Freight, it's a great unit. All aluminum construction and made surprisingly well.
Mount it to a 1"x 6" piece of wood and you're good to go.

You need to look up a screw chart for Pocket holes. I use longer screws when I screw together 2x4s.

Building a king size farmhouse bed for the wife. 16 years in a queen and she finally had enough. Used Ana-White as a template.
With one coat of paint:
Going to distress with some stain after the second coat.

Looks good.
After I finish this hall tree bench I'm going to build a bar be que station/ outdoor cooking station for under my patio. Nothing fancy, all though I do plan on trying to mold my own concrete counter top.

Concrete countertops are fairly straightforward. Making sure the concrete is vibrated enough but not too much so that is settles aggregate to top is key. We use melamine sheets to use for the mold with black silicone in the seems to make rounded corners on the top.

I'm looking to do the same. What do you plan on using for a actually bed frame? You just going to connect your head and foot board to it?
Looks great btw. Hope mine comes out that well

I've watched a few videos, looks like something I could handle. The mold looks pretty straight forward, just build a box with melamine and screw it together. What do y'all use for mix? I've seen people add plasticizer and extra fiber, I've also seen people use straight Quickrete 5000 out the bag. How do you vibrate it? I seen a few different methods on that as well, one guy went around and tapped the mold with a rubber mallet, one guy used a jig saw without a blade to vibrate it, and one used a sawzall.

I built a frame with 2x10 for the pieces connecting the headboard and footboard. Put 8-2x4 runners between. Going to put some pegboard on top of that so mattress won't sag but can breath. Trying out the Casper memory foam.

Both times I have built them, I have just used off the shelf bag mix from big box store. I put chicken wire in the middle for some reinforcememt. I used my wife's handheld back messager to vibrate mine. Worked pretty good. Buddy of mine uses a handheld vibrating sander. Use a cement slurry without aggregate to fill any imperfections on the surface once you pop them from the form.

I built the same bed.
I used 2x10 runners to connect the head board and footboard.
There is a 2x4 run on the inside of each for the bed slats.
Also, a 2x4 runner down the middle for support.
Attached with pocket hole screws and some thick metal brackets.

Did the other pieces end up matching after you refinished them?
