I built one using pine from the depot, it's held up well and I think it looks great.

Sweet. That's kinda what I'm looking for. Is it possible to find non pressure treated 4x4's?

Also, what did you use to attach the runners to the headboard and footboard?

Home Depot usually has some laying around

I put these 2 together over the weekend using some Ana White plans. Excuse my bastardized garage/wood shop... the sawdust struggle is real

It does look great!

How much did the materials run you to build it?

Home Depot sells untreated 4x4 posts both in cedar and pine. Built a king sized bed about two years ago out of some pine ones and they look just fine.

I've never seen non-treated pine 4x4s at my local HD. Would like to find some though.

Wait until you find an eel when cleaning out the sediment in that thing. It's always a fun surprise

4+ years and no eel yet. Im not around any other water sources so the most I have gotten are random fish.

I do have frogs and a snake or two that hangout.

I dont let too much build up on the bottom

Not a new build obviously...but I paid $20 for this and turned out pretty good.

Painting that bastard wasn't as easy as I thought it was gonna be.

Been thinking of building a bed frame and headboard.
Like Booga, I built a platform bed out of pine 2x4's and 1x4's from Lowe's and painted it. No headboard or footboard. It's sturdy as hell, could support my truck. With our a memory foam mattress, there is zero movement in the bed. Can't feel my wife get in or out of bed.

I have no issue finding them here south of Birmingham. The plans I loosely followed said they had trouble finding them.

I think around 100-150. It really wasn't a lot to it. It's sturdier than hell. I can give the wife a whole lot of what for on that thing and it doesn't make a sound.

We got a brand new latex mattress for it and it has been amazing.

Plans I used

I say I loosely followed these because they aren't exactly accurate and glaze over tons of stuff. I pretty much just took the idea and went with it on my own.

I got a couple of brackets from home depot to attach the runners and threw in some pocket hole screws for good measure.

we bought a new-build custom home that the buyers backed out of three years ago and over time we have made some changes.

I built this sliding barn door for the guest bedroom/bathroom door. I've done lots of floating shelves above the toilets, a window seat toy box for one of my daughter's rooms. Pipe shelving unit. Outdoor kitchen. See below for some pictures.

Nothing perfect but I enjoy it.

Nice, I added a patio about a year ago. I want to put a quasi outdoor kitchen under it. Just a 12' run of cabinets with a counter top. I need place to set up a small griddle, a fryer, and a 2 burner stove, nothing major.

Man I don't have plans. Put it on notebook paper and basically framed some short walls and added hardy backer. Fun project and when I tell my buddies what I spent compared to what they spent--they go nuts and they like mine better.

A sliding "barn door" I'm working.

A bathroom vanity I built for a customer.

A "ladder shelf" I recently built

Anyone know where I can get some kiln dried 2X6?

Want to build a wood counter top for a small kitchen island and don't want to risk splitting and cupping. I'm thinking anything at Lowes and HD might be too wet
