Man, y'all are some talented mofos in here. If one wanted to get into wood working/building, what are some good entry level pieces? Where can instructions for said pieces be found?

Depends on what you want to do. But tables are usually pretty easy to start with. Check out anna white's website. All kinds of plans.
ETA- some of these guys are ridiculously talented.
Love the crib.

I'm pretty proud is fireplace remodel I did back in December in our (new to us) house...I can't take credit for the brick work though, only part I hired someone for.

Yep. That looks 100 times better.

It allll started because my TV wouldn't fit in the recessed area and I wasn't about to buy a smaller TV. I was ripping it apart before we even finished unpacking lol

Took the wife longer to decide on color of paint/stain.
What did you end up using? I was told I need to repaint one before our 1st is due 10/1. Apparently it was painted once using Chalk paint because it is non-toxic. I have done a little reading about it and don't think I want to go that route.

Look up General Finishes Milk paint and and see if it would be ok on a crib. It should be. It's really easy to paint and sand.

You can do any color chalk paint with calcium carbonate added.
We went with plain wall paint, eggshell. I figure if they can drool, lick, and demolish my walls. The crib won't hurt them either.
Which brings me to my next point. Has anyone ever actually only had to do one coat with this paint plus primer shite?im like 0/75 on single coat.

Start with something easy Jay Bates has a great YouTube channel with builds and plans on his website [link=(www.jayscustomcreations.com)]Jays Custom Creations [/link].
I'd start on something basic like outdoor furniture where all you need is a circular saw and a drill.

You need to build you a nice wooden frame around the TV. Something like this will really dress up the TV.

Love that. I would be concerned about heat, though. Have you had any issues?

Another really good one is Pete Sveen ( DIY Pete)
Really easy project, well explained and he's really responsive. I've actually asked him questions and he responds every time. If you start you'll be addicted. Good luck!

Sorry inadvertent down vote, my phone loaded slow and i ended up down voting.
This thread definitely delivers, I'm hoping to post pics of my finished changing table, crib, fence, and garage cabinets when they are done. We are expecting our first in August.
Jay Bates' page is good for starters. Ana-white.com has good stuff also for plans. Izzy Swan on Youtube is solid for jigs and other random crazy stuff he puts up.
Changing Table
It's a photo album of the changing table plans based off of a Pier 1 table.

I can't take credit for that. It's someone that posted on the ana white page of his build. I always say I will document my builds but get fed up after the third picture and get caught up in getting the build done.
