This confused me to, as well as all of the guys claiming to be trained in the military walking around in the heat of the day. Does the military no longer teach basic survival skills? Im fairly certain I remember being taught not to walk around in the heat of the day.

He was the only military guy huh? I didn't see the Africa episode so I can't comment on him, but the other two guys were just fattys.

Only survival skill I was taught was to drink water , and b/c I was stationed at a "northern tier" base I had basic cold weather survival classes but thats it.

Supposedly the first guy, the one in Africa, was a SERE instructor. If they wanted competent people there are plenty of primitive survival skills experts running schools they could have asked. So far none of the other guys they have chosen have had the skills of Bear Grylls.

Yeah and thats understandable, but they call them "experts" and most teach survival school and whatnot.

Don't call them experts if they do dumb shite like drinking unpurified water from a creek or a hole in the ground. I'm just your average outdoorsy guy with some extremely basic knowledge and even I wouldnt do that.

Check out the differences in her legs from the modeled pics and the photo that was taken of her on the red carpet. She still looks good, but that goes to show you how much air brushing and "touching up" they do.

based on beard growth, some background images (tree stripped of bark, shelter presence, etc.) I am quite sure there is a good bit of editing that changes the timing of events in the show.

That being said, I found the show entertaining albeit a bit over dramatized.

The girl in the Maldives episode was not OT 10 but the random bare assed shots were nice.

I saw about half of this show and it baffled me that he spent 2 1/2 days trying to start a fire by only using one method and never tried anything else.

Almost all of these reality shows do this. It's pretty disappointing. The only one I've really watched is Ultimate Survivor Ak, and while the actual events may have been real the way it was edited was horrible, and some of the drama was definitely manufactured.

Most of these reality type shows are extremely disappointing. Life Below Zero is real without manufactured drama, but probably will attract few viewers for that reason.

I've come to the conclusion that "reality" means "inexpensive actors."

I'm going to apply for the show on discovery and when the chick asks me what I'm doing I'll tell her I learned everything on the TDOB and that she has no clue what shes doing.

Yeah, you may indeed know more than many of these "contestants"

Local girl who was on the episode in Africa applied to 12 different "reality shows" before getting accepted on the "Naked" one. Seems their standards may not be very high.

Pot, fire, or machete/knife are only options.

Some Bullfrog woulda been a good choice for the albino.
