Did a little yard work this morning. Came in and felt a twig or small debris in shoe, took shoe off, shook it. Stirred about and felt it again, repeat procedure. And once again I felt it. This time I brought shoe over to light and peered inside......and found nothing! Alas, a light went off in my head as I realized I didn't consider checking inside of sock for debris. And now you know the rest of the story. Good day!

Mike Rowe is doing a podcast that is very similar to Paul Harvey's show.

I think they are really good. Look them up.

My tl;dr Paul Harvey story:

I was friends in flight school with a guy who ended up flying F14s. When I was stationed on the west coast (MCAS Tustin), he was at NAS Miramar. We had met because he went to Iowa State with a couple Marine officers I had met at OCS and later went to TBS and Pensacola with.

Anyway, after I got out of the Marines and moved back to Florida he transferred to an F14 squadron on the east coast at Oceana. The early 90s was a period where the Navy was having a string of incidents with the F14. So I'm home in Florida in the car listening to the Paul Harvey show and he comes on with a news item, "Yesterday off the coast of Virginia, the Navy lost another F14. Both crew members ejected safely." (I think you know where this is headed.)

That evening I thought I'd bust his balls about the superiority of Marine aviation and call him. Right after I mentioned that I had heard Paul Harvey's news and started to put the needle in, there was a pregnant pause in the conversation..."That was me."

I had same but it was a metal shaving from working in our machine shop, damn it hurt.
Can remember riding around the farm with dad and uncle when the rest of the story would come on the am radio. It would get quiet as church until PH was done and then they would discuss.
Bet Hidin Biden never listened to PH.

Wearing some Merrell Water shows while placing mulch around my shrubs up close to the house I felt a stick near the arch of my foot. I raised my foot and slipped off my shoe and.....nuttin. I continued placing mulch and when leaning again I felt the little sting again and thought of something in my shoe. I just happened to tilt my foot with the shoe on and saw the metal edge of the flat piece on a roofing nail. It was in the sole of my shoe and poked me when I put pressure on that part of the sole.

Every summer many years ago I'd travel cross country in a car w/ my parents on summer vacation. We'd ALWAYS listen Paul Harvey on the radio during the trip. There was a lot of truth in what he said then that still applies today. This one's a classic from 1965 that we talk about in Sunday School frequently. Much of it's eerily prophetic.

‘For the curious mind with the short attention span.”

Paul Harvey’s son has contacted him for encouragement and support. I love it because I listened to Paul Harvey forever. And I’m a Mike Rowe fan anyway.

A Paul Harvey fitting for today’s times
