Is that “chicken of the woods”?
I saw Nate Petroski on TikTok harvesting and freeze a ton of the stuff and I’ve wanted to try some ever since.

Nice. I may go this afternoon before the rain. I found a few milk caps last year amongst the chanterelles. Very cool mushroom.

Chicken of the woods and chanterelles look similar but are different, COW grow straight from a piece of wood (dead or alive) and have no stem
chanterelles grown from the forest floor under hardwood trees and have a stem that will have gills , or pseudo gills running from under the cap down the stem

I found some chanterelle at my place last weekend. Cooked them last week and they were delicious.
Love them.
Love them.

Chanterelles are just about played out here in south MS, but we’ve had more than we could pick for the last 3 weeks with all the rain.

I’ve been loading up on chanterelles in my yard this summer too. Hands down mine and my son’s favorite mushrooms

I'm only eating mushrooms from the local grocery store. I got an app that identifies pictures of fungi I take when I'm on my walk. The first pretty mushroom I saw was Amanita. I think the app said it will destroy the liver. Grocery store only.

I picked a bunch of chanterelle mushrooms. How does everyone like to cook them?
