Anyone have anything? We're a little south o Jackson but haven't been able to make it up in a couple weeks. Is it heating up? Right about this time last season is when it got good and the weather has been pretty cooperative.

Haven't really noticed here. I'm in Gunnison(sp). Dad killed a buck yesterday. He didn't seem like he was all in the heat of the rut or anything. Neck wasn't swollen or anything. I've seen tons of does without any bucks after them. Not really sure what else to go by.

I did however see 3 huge bucks driving the levee today. Each one if them was with 3-5 does and a couple small bucks so I could be wrong. I've never been so tempted to break the law in my life

Yeah it might be a little early. Last year the peak was around the 5th.

I hunt in Amite county and our rut usually hits Jan 3-10. We are still seeing young bucks together, should start breaking up soon.

Its happening in Claiborne County. Doesnt seem to be many receptive does so looks like it will be drawn out for a while though.

Not many signs in Madison Co. I hunt in Canton. Have seen a few scrapes but that's it. Normally starts next week and week after.

Yeah that's about right, figured with the weather staying cold it might have bumped up a little. I'll still give it hell this weekend

I've seen a few rubs and scrapes, a couple young bucks pushing some does but that's about it

In Northeast MS, dad saw a buck trailing some does this morning. Said he never picked his nose up off the ground.

Heard of some chasing going on by St. Catherine. Leaving for Woodville Sunday, and staying for the entire week.

hookings and a few scrapes in Ft. Adams. 2 bucks killed Monday. Tuesday morning I saw a buck about 4 seconds behind a doe. both walking at a steady pace. It is still a little early.

I'm forty miles south of Jackson. I've been seeing a few young bucks making scrapes everywhere and swollen necks, but no real full-fledged chasing. I think it will peak around the normal first week of January.
