Some people hear foxes scream and think they are big cats. Many people don't realize that foxes scream. I've heard foxes scream. It's quick and repetitive screaming though when it's a fox. What I heard that evening was no fox.

This!
I have heard foxes scream and in fact at the camp in Texas, one of our guys shot one that was doing that. We grabbed the spotlights and saw what was making the noises. He had it either mounted or took the skin. I saw the fox he shot and the sound they made was not what I heard when I heard the "big Cat" off the Calcasieu River.

Lived in Olla for three years when I was in elementary school. My dad was the football coach at LaSalle High from 1966-1968.

Yup. Still makes my skin crawl when I think about it.

It doesn't make sense that we have all these people on here saying they have heard a lion make noise yet they haven't actually seen the lion.

How do you know it's not bigfoot making the screams?

i can vouch for this! i had one outside my box blind behind me when i hunted in texas. its a sound i will NEVER forget. heard it with about 10-15 mins of daylight left and the SOB was REALLY REALLY close. i couldn't find it to shoot it. i stayed in the blind till a few buddies came looking for me.
also, one of our club members shot and killed one sometime around year 2000. 130# female. texas parks and wildlife paid him something like $75 as a bounty and the ranchers in the area started pulling out wads of $100 bills that evening. he wouldn't take their $ but did let them pay for the full-body mount. i may be able to dig up a pic of the cat laying on the tailgate.

I saw a black panther when I was a child in LaSalle Parish. Deer Hunter bagged one and had it in the back his truck. It was in 1966.
