I heard it directly from a rep filing a bill on the issue. It was not an embellishment and sounded like a credible statement. I think it’s true.
Nevertheless getting it in writing from LDWF or some other process like public records request would be nice if anyone has time to make that request. Good idea.

Wizard, I do not have to hope for CCA of Louisiana to fail, it does that all my itself. In fact, our group donates significant sums to CCA of other States and helps them on political issues if we can. Think about this, Motorboat, a full-blown cult member did not even know the names of the groups that have been representing the Menhaden industry for over ten years. You really think these clowns keep its members informed.
You are bragging about 20,000 members. Louisiana sold over 755,000 licenses last year. Do you realize that is less than 3% of paid fishermen that have join these clowns. You really believe menhaden industry does not bring this to the attention of elected officials. Theee are numerous records of this being told to elected officials in Louisiana and Washington, just research the Legislative Bureau Records and Congressional Hearing Records),
There are over 200 elected state officials in Louisiana, and you really believe 20,000 uninformed members have political power., Incidentally, Landry was elected without a runoff by over 270,000 votes. A little common sense goes a long way.
As to our group, we are 10-15 people, who accept no donations, but are activity involved in helping wounded Veterans as it relates to utilizing the outdoors. We do get to laugh quite a bit at comments by elected officials mocking CCA of Louisiana.

The starch shirts, way too short wearing folks sure like to attack people. I really do appreciate each of you cult members proving my point about CCA of Louisiana. Never can you make an honest justification for factually negative things CCA of Louisiana has done. Your only hand to play is attacking someone with lies and claims you know little about-Exactly what CCA of Louisiana does.
So, again, I thank you all for the name calling, the false accusations, the statements of misinformation, and your refusal to answer questions-WOW, just like CCA of Louisiana does when it does show up in Baton Rouge and Washington.
OH, and by the way, we have laughed at CCA of Louisiana in both Baton Rouge and Washington. If either of you would loosen up those way too small shorts, and girly belt and read and listen to reports which are public record, you would not only be hearing the laugher, but you yourself would laugh.

I wonder if the news would be interested in that email thing. It seems like government corruption at it's finest.

Here it is. Official. I got this from a state legislator today.
786 public comments in opposition of the pogie boats. Only 6 comments in favor of the pogie boats.
This shows how corrupt our government is. Complete public opposition and the commission still went ahead in favor of the pogie boats.

That's crazy - even throwing out ALL the form letters looking at 474 : 6 (Opposition:Support) or simplified to 79:1
Throw out the non-staters but keep the form letters looking at 503:6. Simplified to 83.833 : 1 .

I would argue the form letters are still relevant and important to include because it's a person that took time to fill out the form and submit their opinion. Not everyone who has a valid opinion feels comfortable writing an essay or even a small email explaining their position.
But either way, overwhelming one-sided response but yet the commission did their own thing and the legislature refused to take up oversight after the fact.
Keep in mind this letter was sent to the two natural resources committee chairs, the legislators responsible for taking up oversight. So they saw this overwhelming public opposition to the pogie boat buffer change and still refused to do anything.

Thanks for posting Wizard
No surprise here, but follow the political $$ trail.
- Westbank Fishing LLC (Omega) > Funds both of Gov. Landry's PACs - Cajun PAC II & Protect Louisiana’s Children PAC
- Westbank Fishing LLC > Direct candidate contributions to lawmakers with natural resources relevance.
- Landry's appointment of Kevin Segrara as LDWF Commissioner.
There is a clear and consistent pattern where both regulatory and legislative outcomes align with industry interests, despite broad public opposition. That raises serious questions about influence and transparency in the decision-making process.
It will be very telling if HB 855 passes or not.

You wonder why they chose not to do anything?!?
Bob Hensgens received the following political contributions:
- $1,000 on August 30, 2019 from Omega
- $1,000 on October 22, 2025 from Omega
- $2,500 on August 11, 2023 from Westbank Fishing LLC
- Brett Geymann (Chair)
- Westbank Fishing LLC gave $1000 on 8/19/2025
- Omega Protein gave $500 on 6/17/2025
- Omega giving $1000 on 11/18/2025 and $500 on 9/1/2020
- A 2023 Geymann report also shows Westbank Fishing LLC in his contributor list

How does one find out when the bill will be heard in Committee? The bill lookup page just says "Current Status: Pending House Natural Resources". On the Natural Resource Committee page, they don't have any future meetings posted at this point. Not sure how far out they post the agendas.
Posted on 3/26/26 at 2:50 pm to LSUengr
You have to monitor the "upcoming meeting tab" every couple days. The next Nat. Resource meeting is the 31st, but 855 isnt on the agenda.
The bills are not "set" for a specific day until generally the author and the committee chair decide to "let it come to argument."
In this case, it'll come before the committee 6-10 days before sine die and get returned to the calendar for future consideration and die without any vote every occurring in committee.
I could be wrong - but my money is it doesn't get even to a vote in committee much less a vote on the house floor.
