I'm amazed it really happened.

I will not patronize 'gun free zones' unless absolutely necessary.
If a CCW had shot the guy in the theater, would it have been a legitimate shoot?
IMO it would if the gunman appeared real. Hell most CCW's I've talked to have already talked about Aurora. To a man, not one would have sat idly by while the a-hole started killing people and waited for the officer safety experts to arrive and look tough in their paramilitary gear while doing nothing.
If a business can post a sign that says "you may not defend your life on these premises" -- ie gun free zone, aren't they both criminally and financially liable if somebody shoots up their defenseless patrons.
Should they not provide security if they demand that customers cannot provide their own?
.gov buildings have armed men at the door.
I've seen armed guards in a Gucci store in a mall in Orlando.
But our kids can't be protected? frick that.
Anybody who tries to take away my inalienable and fundamental right to defend my own life and the lives of those I love is one step above a murderer in my humble opinion.
I wish no interaction with such abominable creatures. I do not wish to forfeit my rights so some namby-pamby liberal can feel safe.
The patrons of that theater ought to sue the shite out of them. You don't fake armed attacks, you don't do un-announced shooter drills in schools.
Anyone who does that is either completely negligent or downright evil.
I'm going with the latter in this case.

God damn it. Why couldn't have someone been CCing?

Had some fool tried that stunt in an Anchorage, Alaska theater, dude would've had a polka-dot shadow.

Damn, that is the dumbest shite ever

I don't really agree with you guys on this.
Did you read the link and see the picture?
The entire theater staff was dressed in different characters from the movie. Including Iron Man.
This not a lone gunman running into a theater yelling "Allahu Akbar!!" Every worker was dressed up. Women too.
The theater has done promotions like this several times.
It looks to me like some 'passers by' saw the "armed" men working the crowd outside and overreacted.
I think the actual movie goers at that screening were not scared at all.
Poor judgement by the manager, but I think it is being blown out of proportion

I don't think a word exist to describe how stupid this was. We should kick MO out of the SEC.

I've seen the movie.
The only one of those characters that's actually in the movie is Iron Man and even then he has the wrong type of armor on.
And as jumpy as people are right now about that sort of thing, I don't think it's an over-reaction at all.

Lulz @ frivolous
This is a slam dunk lawsuit, what an idiot. I'd be shocked if that place is still in business in 6 months.

I wonder what would have legally happened to the citizen afterward if this citizen in the parking lot, had pulled a weapon from his car and engaged the actor.

I did see the picture just now. That picture wasn't up last night when I posted, and now shows as an "update" in the caption.
Still a horrible idea. Dress as Iron Man? Sure. Dress as any other superhero or villain? Sure. But dress like the Aurora shooter (whether that was their intention or not)? Absolutely not.
And even IF they were still intent on doing this and even IF all signs on the inside of the theater made everyone feel safe and know it was all an act, why not have the "actors" get dressed inside the theater instead of walking through the parking lot decked out like they're the next James Holmes.
Bad judgment no matter how you slice it.
