LA hunters in MS in a nutshell right there!
Not even close to true. My leases have experienced nothing but improvements. I only bowhunt and I didn’t even drawback on a deer last year. I’ve trapped God knows how many hogs and coons to help the deer and turkeys out. Just because some jack legs hold on to the knuckle dragger mantra of, “If it’s brown it’s down.”, doesn’t mean it’s widely accepted.

Most states screw non residents. They have no vote, other than their dollars.
Missouri probably does the best job of funding their game and fish department.
Per AI-
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is primarily funded through a dedicated one-eighth cent conservation sales tax, permit sales, and federal reimbursements. In fiscal year 2023, the total receipts were approximately $265.0 million, with the sales tax contributing about $159.8 million, permit sales and federal reimbursements accounting for roughly $88.3 million, and other sources like sales, rentals, and interest making up the rest.

What’s Arizona doing for buffalo herds to charge a non resident $5,415 just for the tag? The hunter must still hire an outfit or handle the logistics themselves. Also, most of the hunting will be conducted on federal land. Just another example of a state sticking it to a non resident.

Great explanation.
Individual states "owning" the wildlife isn't a perfect system but it has generally worked very well for the last 100 years or so.
Our great grandfathers saw what was happening with no regulation and decided the best course was to give ownership of wildlife to their given state.

Really hope that before next hunting season, I get to make the first post in the annual thread complaining about MS non resident license fees

It fits many MS hunters as well, locals kill WAY more deer than the non residents in my area
and let's not even start to talk about Turkeys

I don’t mind paying for the MS license. My lease is only 2 hours and 15 minutes away. I could hunt in Louisiana and pay more for the lease and drive an extra 2 hours.
Just wish we had power/water.
