Lil useless knowledge for ya. The first well ever drilled & completed over water was on Lake Caddo.
I fish there a lot and work in the oil business so trust me I'm well aware.

this lock in gibson you speak of, never heard of it, where exactly is it and what two waterways does it connect?
Blocks off the begging of bayou black just before gibson. That part of bayou black ties into the intracoastal just before Amelia.

No insult taken - keep providing good information on the flooding - seems like you have a good handle on it and it's interesting to watch for sure.

This release will run into the Ark River that feeds into the Mississippi to the south east of Watson Ark.

I know this sounds flippant, but what affect does all this have on the upcoming crawfish season?
Posted on 12/30/15 at 3:11 pm to rented mule
The pond guys will be able to set the price. A large share of crawfish are river & spillway crawfish. Many people perfer these over pond raised.

I wouldn't say they are preferred.
Anyway. The market is going to be super saturated this year. A lot more crawfish acreage is up and running.

This is a levee failure in S Illinois. Runs into the Mississippi.

MC screwed?
not at 9.5. it was over 10 in 2011 if I recall

That 9.5 doesn't take into account them opening the morganza though. Should be an interesting few weeks. We got hammered with rain again last night. Everything is saturated.

In the atchafalaya basin alone, they harvest over 3 million pounds of crawfish.
& that's just what is reported.

Doesnt take in account future rain either.
On bright side, after 2011 flood, i caught more fish in atchafalaya basin than ever before
