Gentlemen, as you can previously see from this thread, I had to change my starter (which completely alleviated my problem), however, I have a new problem with my truck
Whenever I go start my truck, sometimes I’ll turn the key, the starter will just CLICK CLICK, then everything shuts down completely. The steering wheel will lock, my AC turns off, radio, lights, everything else DEAD.. if I jiggle my steering wheel the right way, I’ll get temporary power until my truck decides to start again..
I’m thinking it has something to do with my anti theft system, but I’m not sure... any suggestions??
ETA - if my description isn’t clear enough, let me know, I tried to relay this info as best as I could

Factory installed anti theft or aftermarket?

Jiggling the steering wheel might mean it’s tied to anti-theft or something.
But I would double check all of the battery connections and your cable connections to the new starter. A poor connection can carry enough power for lights, gauges, etc. But when you engage the starter, the extra surge can arc those bad connections and make them fail completely. Worth a try before you tear into anything major.

When it ‘fails’ and doesn’t start, my steering wheel locks up, which leads me to believe it’s tied into some sort of antitheft system.. everything else dies (won’t come on), but like I said, if I jiggle the steering wheel, it’ll come back on
Really strange

you may have a broken motor mount, and fan is hitting the shroud, or a frayed belt hitting something.
Never mind, I see you found the problem with the tinging.
On the other problem, I had a similar thing happen with my wife's Impala. I opened all the doors and the trunk, and closed them firmly, disconnected the battery cable for a couple of minutes and that problem went away.
It was a 2005 model with factory security.
I don't think I ever tried jiggling the steering wheel though, so I don't know if it's exactly the same kind of issue.
What I think initially caused the problem on hers, was a box of candles ,or some such junk, sliding around in the trunk.

Check your battery cables and your battery terminals.
also check your grounding straps between your motor and chassis.

Sounds like bad needle bearings in the u joints.

The key only working when you jiggle it?
Could be not reading the key properly. GM was one of the first to have chip keys. Not sure of their current key or anti theft tech.
To test that try the other key and see if you have the same issue.
Another thing it could be is a loose connection at the wiring harness.
Yet another thing that you should check first is to make that the battery cables are tight.

When it won’t start, jiggling the steering column gets all my electronics to come back on
I’m going to play with it when/if this rain dies down, and if I can’t figure it out, I’ll make a video and send it to you. It’s hard to explain exactly what’s going on

Good deal.
Always go back to what you did last if a new problem creeps up after you fix something else.
What will really mess you up is putting in a bad new part that changes the symptom of the original problem.
