I left for a deployment when my boy was 12 days old...when I got back...it was tough...obviously I was super excited...but don't forget that she has been around momma primarily...things we don't think about...especially when on deployment...can be tough for a little one...be careful when you speak...the tones of voice we use are harsh and rough...like i said...she been around momma...also...throat clearing and sneezing/coughing...those things can send them into a nervous cry...

also...patience is a must...she will test you...even as a baby..more than you realize...just take it slow...and enjoy being home...

oh and...

Murica' Damnit...thanks for serving

Yeah bro, I'm stoked!

Can't give official dates but she knows the round about date so send her text, she'll have details.

Thanks to everyone else for the advice, I really appreciate it.

And to my Brothers-in-Arm, proud to be part of a damn great generation who served!

I have 3 daughters, and watched them all come into the world from 3 feet away. As awesome as it was, it cannot even come close in comparison to the feeling I anticipate you are going to have. Congrats, and have a safe trip home sir.

Hah...you should've been around in '90 when the first mass recall of reserves happened since the Korean War. You should've heard the candy-asses who thought they were gonna carry on the Vietnam weekend warrior "no fight, but get bennies" tradition. Lots of pissing and moaning, indignation and outright protest of having to put more than 2 weeks in uniform, much less go to face a potential chemical attack.

I can't tell you how damned impressed and proud I am of you post 9/11 boys who took a shite in those bastards' sand box while undermanned and still got the fricking job done. Totally opposite of the post-Vietnam shite I had to deal with. Didn't hear the pissing and moaning from you young guys, but to the contrary, ya'll were volunteering for tour after tour with a can-fricking-do attitude. Gives me a motherfricking military hard-on.

That's awesome my brother. I had worried about that with my son, left when he was just shy of a year and didn't see him for almost a year. I was more nervous than he was when I got to see him again.

I worry about the something now. What if I have to leave again for a long period of time when she is older?

Hopefully that'll be sometime from now.

I was shaking like I had withdrawals when I walked up to my wife and saw her for the first time. Cried more than my daughter I think.

I hear ya my brother, think it's harder on us than them. They go back to same place they've been, you have to adjust to everything. I will say this, you don't waste a minute with them for a long while. Enjoy it.

And that first 15 sec sex session with wife is pretty sweet too.
