So, these things are floating and tied to the gulf floor? How do you drive pilings into the floor 5000 feet deep? Also, do these things sway at all in big seas?

We work with them in the Power industry some. They are a gigantic pain in the arse to do work with though. I know we have turned away jobs due to both parties not agreeing on terms and conditions

I can't think of anyone who has went to gif from McDermott in the last few months. Initials?

TLPs and Spars are smooth.
There is some sway, but there are a couple SCADA system computers (Ballast Control Computer and On-board Loading Computer) that work together measuring conditions up to 20 times a second, and then automatically adjusting ballast tank levels and tension on the tendons in rapid fashion.

Jack and St Malo are way the eff out there. They've already completed a few wells. Those rigs are moving until 2015 if I've remember correctly. I've actually heard they are taking Frontrunner off location over the next few weeks as well. The source wasn't the most reliable though so I don't know how true that is.

Yes JSM will be way out. 1:30 chopper flight out of boothville and a 12-13 hour crew boat ride out of fourchon. I am hoping I don't have to make to many trips out.

I"m working in the samsung yard in korea right now, 16 drillships under construction, 5 headed to the gulf. The Daewoo yard just north of where i am is three times as big as this yard.

I can't imagine they are moving front runner. It's still making decent oil and gas.
12-13 hours isn't but about 150 miles by most crew boats FYI. It's 11 hours to pompano from fourchon and we are about 100 miles as the crow flies
