That is a concern. I've been throwing fish heads and guts in there when I have some to supplement. And there is a lot of organic matter when you run a dip net across the bottom.

I spot checked again last Friday and I am catching one about every other swipe with a dip net. I hope it's because they are getting bigger and faster, or that the water was as high as it can get from recent rains.

They are definitely growing... they've doubled in size since mid November when I last checked.

They better do more than double in size again if you want some crawfish to eat

Someone asked me when I planned to trap the first time. I told them it's looking like April or May at the rate they are growing.

I'm hoping when the water warms they'll molt and grow even faster.

I let him walk/swim.

I've said it a few times in this thread. This is by no means sewed up, but each time I check, they are still there and getting bigger.

You ought to plant some jap millet hybrid in there when it drains out for next season. Helps with oxy and food.

Couple more and I'll have enough for a crawfish cocktail.

I'm still less than a year in on this project. I have big plans with regards to a flashboard riser so I can regulate the water to plant around the edges. I don't think I can get it totally drained, but with the one I'm looking at I could pull it down 2 or 3 of the 4 total feet.

What growth rate would you expect in normal conditions over a 2 month winter period?
