Losing friend over deer.

I was invited to hunt with my friend yesterday afternoon on a property that his friend owns in northeast Louisiana. I was told I could take a doe or a management buck. Needless to say I took this management buck. Long story short, landowner try’s to fight me and tells me to get the hell off of his land. My friend won’t speak to me, says I killed a baby deer. I aged this deer at at least 2 1/2 years and thought he was the definition of a management buck. Pretty embarrassed by my friend and the landowners reactions. Should I apologize?

Based on that picture, I don't think you know what a management deer really is. It's not a "baby deer" but its also definitely not a management buck.

We had a bunch go together on a lease, opening day one guy kills two trophies (may have been illegal). It was years ago before tags.

Should have let him walk. If I'm allowed a management buck, it will have deformed antlers or some other extremely obvious deformation. Little racks get to walk, I'm not gonna risk mis-aging a deer.
