The White House said Biden will call for a "rigorous review" during the pause of all existing leasing and permitting practices related to fossil fuel development on public lands and waters, and seek steps to double renewable energy production from offshore wind by 2030.
Biden will also set a goal to conserve 30% of federal land and waters to protect wildlife by 2030.
The orders will impact large swathes of land onshore in mostly Western states, as well as offshore drilling acreage located mainly in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, which combined make up about a quarter of the nation's oil and gas supply.

where do you get that they will be off limits to fishing from that?
From quickly reading the article that line was referencing not allowing fossil fuel extraction on the 30% conserved.

I think it would limit commercial fishermen.

I said, "might".
Better get out in front of this. They never stop with regulations.

Russia and Saudi Arabia are furiously masturbating to this, along with the end to fracking.

Biden’s goal is to stick it to blue collar workers because they largely voted Trump

Here's an idea. Let them sell us all their gas and oil first. Then when they run out, we still have ours.
Just a though.

Biden has adopted the "30 x 30 Initiative" in his EO and I would encourage everyone on this board to read up on this plan. Yes wide swaths of area in the Gulf of Mexico will become off limits to all fishing similar to what they do in parts of the Pacific.
It will also limit the use of nets of all commercial fishing inshore and offshore.

"To prevent mass extinctions and bolster resilience to climate change, scientists warn that we must protect at least 30 percent of our lands, rivers, lakes, and wetlands by 2030. At the same time, we must also fully and highly protect at least 30 percent of our oceans by 2030 to help safeguard marine ecosystems and fisheries that provide food, jobs, and cultural sustenance to billions around the world."

I used to think that but #1 I’m trying to retire #2 there are huge amounts of reserves across the world and we are nowhere near close to running out of oil. Why enrich them when we can enrich ourselves while transitioning to other energy sources.
