i'm pretty sure they go bang when you pull the trigger.
so do Kel Tecs....but it is not a "protection piece" that anyone considers.

the over-exaggeration of characteristics of guns conveniently placed is always funny.

Gun culture people are fun to laugh at.

Are not all handguns built as protection pieces?

Absolutely it is but the point is all guns will go bang most of the time. The difference is what threshold do you (anyone) have with what that percentage is. There are reasons that limbers aren't as reliable in theory as other 1911s such as stamped parts and sacrificing spring weights to make features feel smooth.

I'm not against kimber pistols at all. I personally think they are reliable enough to carry everyday but it just wouldn't be my first choice. Fwiw I think the tactical entry and grand raptor are two of the sexiest 1911s on the market.

Para owner : Hangs his head and goes in the corner:
Paying 400 for a brand new still the wrapper SS 45
Going to the ranch in a lil bit to blow through some ammo

Mine is an early production BUL M-5, made in Israel. By early production I mean they took a SA slide and barrel and put it on their polymer frame. I must say that having 14+1 of a .45 with a flush magazine is bad arse. Shoots great, but it's time to put a full length guide rod and a new recoil spring in.

Bapple has a gorgeous SW1911.

Carry hawg hunting and just shooting.
After seeing my first hog in person a couple days ago, I have to say 45 is terrible for hog hunting unless you shoot them in the head or if you're just shooting them in a trap.
If I were you, I would get a Coonan Arms .357 or a Kimber Eclipse 10mm if you want a real hog gun.

If you're using a pistol, chances are getting a good shot are slim, especially if you're on the move and running from a rabid pig.

It's for backup when hog hunting or bowhunting. Alsp thought about a Desert Eagle .44 magnum, but those things are heavy. I've also heard they have accuracy and reliability issues.

Yea, DE's are simply novelty guns. They aren't reliable enough, slim enough, light enough, and practical enough for real use.
I think the Kimber 10mm and the Coonan 357 would weigh about as much as any other 1911.
Even if it's only backup, if you have the money, I'd get a hard-hitting caliber. I mean, I carry my 45 in the woods as a backup gun, but if I had the money, I'd get something bigger.

Kimber Ultra CarryII that I carry when I'm not carrying the S&W Airweight
And another 1911 that I aquired in a trade. It's a custom built piece on an Essex frame

Dan Wesson always gets left out of this conversation. Best trigger pull on any gun I have ever shot. They are a bit pricey but I put them in the same boat as an Ed Brown and Les Baer and when you compare the price to those its a deal. Fit and finish on the Dan Wessons are awesome (imo Kimbers fit and finish is the only quality that I would put about others like SA or Colt). Also you need to consider what exactly it is you want out of a 1911. Do you want to classic government model, loaded model (beaver tail, rail, night sights, etc), or are you looking for a carry piece? Forget about which gun is the "best". Figure out what you want and your budget and go to a gun store and hold those guns and decide which one you like the best.
