Picking up this bad boy when it arrives at Friendly's of Slidell tomorrow or Monday

HRX217HYA

we only have a 10x10 patch of grass in our fenced in patio area that the ZTR can't get to, but I'm tired of the two steel deck mowers we've had the decks rot out on...

That and my 16yo son will be using it to mow some yards for cash that the ZTR can't be used on...Nexite deck and Hydro transmission...

also picking up a Honda 4 stroke trimmer to complement my 20 yo ECHO that is still running strong...It is an extremely well balanced trimmer...feels lighter than other trimmers weighing 2 pounds less...and has great low end torque.

That's probably my next one as well. That, or the Hi-Vac from Snapper.

shite I respect the hell out of a man shopping for what he really needs, and not the ZTR his neighbor has.

Damn, Pepperidge beat me to it. Honda HRX217HYA. Spend the money its a guaranteed 20 year plus mower with minimal maintenance. I love mine.

I've got a five year old Toro super recycler. The only problem I've had is the funky ethanol gas gunks up the carb. That was two years ago, no problem since I switched to no ethanol gas.

They suck in high grass
They suck in wet grass
They suck when the bag gets full
They suck when you turn
They suck when you get on slopes

But yeah, keep on preaching

I got the one trout bandit linked on the first page last weekend. It's awesome. It's not the price in that's link though. They are $399.

Nope, I believe everyone argued against FWD mowers because of the weight distribution from start to finish. They just don't work

I tell you one thing...growing up in the 70's, we had a Craftsman self propelled front wheel drive mower with an aluminum/magnesium deck with a Tecumseh 4hp engine and it was chain driven by a sprocket coming out the side of the motor to the front axle...that thing was unstoppable in 5" wet Saint Augustine...mower lasted until 95/96 when the shaft for the sprocket out the side of the mower bent/wore out and that heavy sum bitch became a push mower!
needless to say we retired her for a new fangled commercial lawn boy 6hp self propelled that was in the shop at least twice a year...

Update: called the local Home Depot and they didn't have the HRR216VKA. Crap. Searched and saw that Northern Tool carries them and the local store had one. Show up to purchase and look at it and realize "WTF, no discharge chute? Only mulch and bag." Didn't buy because I thought it wouldn't work with my thick grass.

Meanwhile coincidently, my dad tells me he has that model. He brought it over for me to try. HOLY CRAP, that thing is aces! Light as a feather, powerful pulling wheels (I had to chase it UP the hill). It does allow for discharge through the back but hits it down so it's not all up in your feet. Buying one as soon as I can get back to Houma. Multiple thumbs up!!

I can tell you have never used one. The turn thing is the dumbest comment ever. Turning is the main benefit. The bag thing is black pantherish. Stop posting misinformation. It's amazing how many subjects you post on that you know nothing about.

Have the same mower and mine is also 5 y/o, I put an in line filter in the gas line, starts 1st pull every time. I also use non ethanol gas
