I currently bungee a conventional wakeboarding life vest to my SUP or kayak but looking for something that provides better mobility when paddling. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, thanks!

I use an Onyx Auto Inflatable for kayak fishing. I don't even notice it on any more. From the one time I got dumped, while wearing it, I can tell you it works very well.

Austin City Kayak Lifejacket
Austin City Kayak is a good paddling specific website. Here is a link to their lifejacket section.

Is that the one you wear like a fanny pack?

I have the Mustang inflatable that is very comfortable and light weight. Downside I accidentally dunked it a couple of times and inflated. Cost $25 for the cartridge refill.

If you're fishing, the NRS Chinook is hard to beat.

NRS makes a top of the line life vest. I have a Chinook which is a type 3 and worth $100. The inflatables are comfortable, but aren't worth a damn if you get knocked out because they won't keep your head above water.

No. It wears like a regular one, but it's very thin and light weight. No maneuverability problems at all, while fishing/paddling.

Same, several times Ive gotten back in my truck, drove to restaurant, sat at table, ate, and never took it off.
I have a Bass Pro one LINK that I got on sale for $60 but most of the time I wear my Hobie one to feel pretentious around peasants in inferior craft.

This is what I use and it’s very comfortable with lots of storage.
Another thing to keep in mind is that a life vest can do more than keep you afloat to save you; it can help rescuers or even other boaters spot you on the water. I got mine in the blaze orange color. People can see it from a distance and one guy said he thought I was a buoy so he was being extra cautious.
