Anybody using lithium trolling motor batteries? If so, what brand and size? I bought an optima blue top about 2.5 years ago and it crapped out on me and of course it’s past the 2 year warranty. I’ve been looking at the lithium batteries pretty hard since they last longer per charge and have a longer total life and longer warranty. Just wondering if it’s worth the money or if I should keep replacing $350 blue tops every 2-3 years.
Also, I have a 12v trolling motor, so I’d only have to buy 1 battery. I could see where a 24-36 volt would get really pricey.

Do you know the brand? I’m looking at the Li Time brand on Amazon. They make one that’s 12v 200AH. Seems like it would run my trolling motor for days without needing a charge.

Mine is a RoyPow. It’s rated to be submerged. The main reason I bought it. Not sure about the brand you suggest.

I went through a similar decision making process earlier this year and landed on Ionic lithium batteries. Customer service and performance have been great.

Something else to consider is your current battery charger capability. I had to buy a new charger, as my current one won’t fully charge a LiFePO battery.

I have two 60AH Amped Outdoor batteries. I don't think I have ever discharged them under 80% in a day, and that's fishing brush piles where I am constantly on the TM, and then use spot lock for each catch and compass track to get to next spot. Super pleased with them. Only minor complaint is no battery meter, but I installed one after the fact. Saved a bit of money on that part.

The battery meter is a nice feature. Mine has Bluetooth connection where I can monitor it with a phone app.

i have a 24v from amped outdoors, use it to fish the bridges and in the marsh and go multiple trips before have to charge it. I only use the battery gauge on the TM.

I have a 24v Minn Kota so I purchased the 24v 100aH lithium battery from Ampere Time on Amazon. It takes up barely any room in my center console and its a fraction of the weight of 2 lead or AGM batteries. I have a 40aH charger, so I'm not waiting all day to re-charge. Plus, the charge lasts for several trips.

Anyone have a lead on a good, cheap source from alibaba or similar place?

2x 12v50AH Ionic Lithiums. I was considering Optimas but these weren't much diff in price have 11yr warranty, 1/2 size, 1/2 weight, faster charge, can check charge in real time on app, etc...

No brainer for me when I was purchasing new batteries in Sept

It's such a relief having all lithium. I charge about every 3rd trip. Never add water again. If I ever have to remove one, I won't hurt myself doing it. Won't think about batteries again for more than a decade most likely.

I have a 36v TM and was also looking at the LiTime on amazon. For the price it seems too good to be true so I’m going to research a bit more. Amazon reviews raved about customer service though. 36v li batteries intrigued me but I’m staying with 12v in series. Losing one battery and replacing only one is cheaper (even though u have 3 to fail) and i like that i can use it for other 12v applications in a pinch not to mention my current MK onboard charger doesn’t charge single 24v or 36v.

I submitted a question to them last night and already received a response:
Thanks for contacting us.
We do not recommend you charge the battery by connecting the 3 * 12V Minnkota onboard charger in series, but you can charge the batteries individually one by one with one of your 12V charger.
As you mentioned your trolling motor is 36V, I would like to advise you can purchase 3* 12V100Ah batteries to achieve a 36V100Ah battery system so that can match your 36V trolling motor. After fully charging the 3 batteries separately, and please refer to the guide in our manual Page 13-14 to balance the voltage before connecting them in series.
Here is the steps for you:
Step1: Fully charge the batteries separately.(voltage at rest: >13.33V);
Step2: Connect the batteries one by one in series, and leave them together for 12-24hrs;
Step3: The 2 batteries can then be connected in series or parallel.
Hope these above will help you.
Any further questions you have, please feel free to contact us.
Have a great day!
Best wishes

Trolling motors aren’t designed for lithium batteries to be used at WOT because the electronics anticipate the voltage drop of a lead acid unit and lithium doesn’t drop. If you run WOT for extended periods you risk damaging the motor.

I couldn't justify buying a new 3 bank charger, and I needed a shop battery charger anyways, so I bought a $30 clamp charger that charges Lithium Ion and LiFePo4 up to 14.6v. Works great to top them off after my onboard charger gets them to 13.3v.

1st time I've heard this. I'd like to read more about it if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I called mine kota and talked to their tech folks about both my precision charger and Ultrex being run on lithiums.

They never mentioned a word of this.

I have also run my Ultrex at WOT for long periods of time.

Zero issues.
