Really happy with the micro-serrrations they went back with. Was really hoping the edge would be this again, instead of just a traditional ground edge. Sharpness lasted about 2 yrs the last time.
Stripped the oil and treated everything with TW25B, put my scales back on and now it’s ready to rock.

How much and how long did they have it?

Free, and I started the resend process on March 9th, shipped it off sometime soon after that.
I shipped it Priority mail, so $7 or 8.

Yeah, Benchmade are pricey, but the Lifesharp service is out of this world.
I hate sharpening.

I may be wrong, but's that not what I'd expect my Griptilian to look like after a factory sharpening considering it wasn't serrated when I bought it.
Is that a new sharpening technique they're doing now?

Exactly what I was thinking after looking at that edge.

Here was factory edge 8 months in.
It was always that edge. Not sure if it’s just this CPM M4 edge, or a feature of other steels as well. That’s why I never sharpened it myself. Odd micro-structure.

That edge is the result of being finished w/ rough grit, has nothing to do with the steel. Some people prefer rough finished edges as they tend to still cut decently after a lot of use. CPM M4will take a high polish edge, no problem and is one of the easier "super steels" to sharpen.

You are one weirrrrdddddd dude. Its a knife, just sharpen it.
Benchmade customer service is excellent. I sent mine back when the lock spring broke after years of abuse and they sent it back fixed and didn't charge anything. Great products and great service.

I love my benchmade stuff too but they are selling $50 knives for $200+, they better have great service

To even start sharpening you’d have to remove all that serrated structure. I always planned on doing lifesharp at least once, so the didn’t want to remove it all for them to deep cut it again. One negative review of the service is that occasionally they remove too much material. Def didn’t want that.

Replacement blade is $70...the axis lock is pretty slick, but I don’t even use their scales.
