The PC Carbine I own. If I take the butt stock off and put a brace and then take the barrel off and put the 6.5 in barrel. It becomes a PC Charger.

Is that legal since I bought it as a PC Carbine rifle

This is the type of question you ask in person and not online

Not legal. You can turn a pistol into a rifle (I think) but you can't go the other way. Which is just stupid as hell, but that's the ATF for you.

Looks like I can do it if approved and register it as a pistol. Did not really want the PC Charger probably should have bought the charger and made it a rifle with a brace. That seems to be legal.

Yeah, and jump through their $200 hoop. I thought you were asking if you could just do it without the regulatory bs.

Although if you just went ahead and did it I can’t imagine it ever getting the attention of The Man.

Pistol can be turned to rifle and back to pistol all you want. Your only option right now is to register as a SBR if you want a short barrel (in that case, you don't need the brace, you can keep your stock). You can throw the brace on the SBR but it will still be an SBR since it never started life as a pistol or receiver. Only way to go if you want to follow handgun laws is to buy the charger. There is no "registering" it as a pistol at this point.

Not without paying for permission. If first recorded as a rifle, it's always a rifle. Short barrels + rifles = tax stamps.

Found out I need a Federal stamp to do it. Just like suppressor except this process doesn't take 12 months to get.

No but I’d pay the $200 to be safe

I am just now seeing these. Although the barrel is shorter than I would like, this may be the closest and easiest way to get what I want.

I did not see braces listed by Ruger. What fits this gun?
