If thats the case, why couldnt you splice into both the hot and ground wires going into the tail light?
Each LED cube pulls ~1.5Amps.
A relay coil pulls ~150mA.
The OEM wiring/circuit is sized for the current draw of the factory reverse lights only. Adding 3 Amps to that is a very significant addition, and could overheat the wires or blow a fuse. Adding 150mA is negligible, and will not have any effect.

You live in USA? I bet no one would have guessed that.

As long as they have adjustable brackets, you should be good.

Gotcha, thanks.

I started noticing these on different jeeps belonging to what I believed to be real deal homosexuals a few years ago. Naturally, I scoffed at the idea.
What if I have the little LED pods on my front bumper of the Jeep? Does the absence of a bar mean I'm just bisexual?

What are some good brands? What about specs like wattage, etc.?
Probably already been covered, but I ordered CREE off of Amazon for my pair.

They were really easy to install and aim. I replaced some factory fog lights, so I just spliced into the wiring, wrapped it in conduit, and was done. And I can control them from the column, so no extra switch was needed. They've been great when I need them.

I can confirm that pods won't effect the oem wiring at all. I dropped the reverse light fuse down from a 10 to a 7.5 to be safe.
Just change your reverse light bulbs to LEDs at the same time.
These are under 30 bucks a pair on amazon.

You can get away with it, I'd just rather be safe and run a relay anyway.
Some newer vehicles will trigger a warning light from the added resistance to the circuit as well. I haven't seen that first hand, but it's similar to switching turn signals to LEDs and then they blink fast as if one is burned out.
I also like the manual on option as well.

I actually tried to change my existing backup lights to LED bulbs....never worked for some reason.

The manual option is worth it the first time you get stopped in traffic.
Cops frown on being blinded when you shuft into park.

The leds are usually unidirectional.
In short, bulbs were in backwards.
Happens to me every damned time.

Like I said, must newer vehicles use resistance/current draw to self diagnose problems (bulbs out, etc). Thats why I stick with a relay.

That and backing into a spot in front of a restaurant window
I did that once and probably blinded whoever was sitting at the table by the window.

I bought a couple of these to put on the back of our grain trucks for when we were dumping at night. They seem to be really well made. I am an A&I dealer and my price is about $230 for similar quality.
Posted on 3/22/16 at 6:42 pm to CP3
Wires that came with them were all 18awg and were in wire loom/heat shrink. Truck reverse lights were like 24. Plus it gets muddy and wet back there regularly

I have one of those as well. It's worked well for me

You're an LED baw at heart. Too scared we'll disown you if you get the 50" across the top so you just put a total of 50" of LEDs placed inconspicuously around your truck
