Am I reading this correctly?

I don’t care about the license, I have a lifetime license. And they can go to an all digital license for all I care. Do they not realize there’s a good chance tags will get wet in the field?

Carry them in a plastic bag and use the bag and a ziptie to attach them.

I've been printing my tags myself for 2 or 3 years now. It's really not that big a deal.

Yeah I saw that too. Personally I keep an offline copy in my phone AND the printed copy at all times when I'm out. Still seems kinda dumb to switch to paper for whatever reason.

Why not? The article says a digital copy will be emailed and will suffice for proof of licensure.

The plastic bag is a good idea. I didn’t even realize you could print out your own tags yourself. My first hunt this season lasted about two minutes when I realized I never went pick up my deer tags.

I just hate the tagging shite all together. The honest hunters will be honest without tags and the outlaws will outlaw with or without tags.

I bought a ream of polyester paper for printing things like hunting tags, licenses, insurance cards etc...

I have a laser printer and it works great! (not sure if it will work with an ink jet)

Correct, but the tags make it easier for enforcement officers to do their jobs.

Bingo. There's ways to get around the tagging requirement if you want to, and can avoid green jeans.

I mean hell, if I save a PDF of my license, with the tags, I could print that as many times as I want. I don't think they really considered that when they started forcing people into this new system. You could actually print your license 4 times, kill 4 bucks, and tag every one of them with tag #1. You could fill the tag out each time as if it were brand new, because you have 4 copies of it. So as long as you don't get checked, or call it in, you could keep using the same tag and no one would know any better.

But, am I surprised that a Louisiana government agency didn't really think that through? No.

They can check if you’ve called any in.

But you have 72 hours to call it in. So if they stop you 2 hours after you killed the deer, with a tag on it, and a harvest report filled out, there's nothing they can do except make you phone it in right there. There's no way for them to know right then and there that you may have already killed 3 deer.

Imma put my tag in a zip lock with a golf ball and shove it up the deers arse. If the warden wants to check it he can dig it out himself. I'm not excited over wimpy tags.

Every member of my family and my -in-laws that are older than 50:

“I ain’t tagging shite, government don’t need to know how many deer I kill”

Same people:

“I don’t believe the deer harvest numbers”

Our tagging system is very easy Tag it and cal it in. Takes maybe two minutes

I will print them out and laminate them this year. No big deal at all to me

just another means to collect a fine and exert control. Remember when the biologists threatened to lower the harvest a few yrs ago because folks weren’t reporting kills?

Probably a tag fee coming in the near future.
