More than you think. The neighbor has shot 7 already and only found 2. He kills 6 every year for sure. I know many others that brag that they do.

Hogs can only be managed by trapping. Incidental kills while deer hunting do not reduce the population.

I wish we followed Texas's fishing regs for sac-au-lait and bass too.

How many of y’all would be greatly affected if you were limited to shotgun only, including slugs. Where I hunt we have a couple pipelines where a rifle can kill deer much farther away than my ability to shoot. Not sure how much of Louisiana would be affected by using shotgun only, though.

It is more about age structure and herd health than actual antler size. Deer in different regions show different characteristics of antler growth for their age classes. It is never a good idea to kill the younger animals leaving only the old ones.
I am all for antler restrictions and limit reductions so long as they are regional.

That is what DMAP is for
You shouldn't need to join some separate state regulatory group to skirt around the states regs.
Eta: thats basically saying "these are the normal rules for the people who don't want to pay us and deal with our extra shite, but we have these special rules for yall who wanna pay a lil summin extra"
Eta2: the more I think about this, the more is smells like "revenue is down, need to force more people into DMAP. And get rid of those damn lifetime licenses."

Bullllllllshittttttttt. Maybe for a select few. The majority of people complaining in this state are people with small leases who's neighbor shot a little buck right after they let it go.

This website is not representative of the states hunting population. Louisiana is littered with people who are butthurt that their 150 acre pine tree lease doesn't produce buckmasters quality and think its because the state lets their 50 acre lease neighbors shoot everything with hooves. The majority of people in this state just like hearing their gun go off.

I do not see how that is responsive to the previous comment.

It is there. You just have to look
"Moreland (1996) estimated the Louisiana deer herd at 1 million at its peak.
According to the long term mail survey, harvest estimates peaked in 1997 at
267,600 deer. It then trended down until about 2012.* The minimum deer
population estimate today is around 500,000"

Harvest numbers have slightly increased from ~2012 to now however, despite declining license sales, and despite wild west shoot whatever you want 3 month long rifle season. Hardly an indicator of drastic need for action

A whole lot of people who want antler restrictions want it because their neighbor shoots the 3 points that they let go. They don't care about overall herd health.

Antler restrictions increases rut activity and daylight activity IMO as well
More 2.5 plus aged bucks will drive more competitive rutting activity.
The solution is divide it by regions or wmas and let people have the option to hunt based on the style they enjoy.

Solution to what?

You propose new regulations to try and solve an issue or debate. It is obvious there is a different perspective and desire of what people want out of the state to satisfy their beliefs in what they should get in return of their tax dollars and license fees into the state.
The "solution" is a proposal which is inclusive of many ideas noted.
Figured that was obvious but guess not for a dumbass neckbeard dog hunter.
