One of my coworkers went to Henderson. He said all his usual spots were dry cause of the low water. He hit a few stumps and decided pack it in.

Bump.

Looking for recommendations for bass fishing in the Lake Charles area. I moved to the LC area from Lafayette a couple years ago, and I've fished a handful of different locations. The Burns, The Pool, Bell City Drain Ditch, Calcasieu River, Sabine River. I think that about sums it up.

I've had decent luck at The Pool and The Burns before I moved to LC, but it seems that it has gotten tougher the last couple years.

Only been to the Sabine once, and caught about 12 or so bass; we launched at Niblet Bluff Park, and didn't travel far before finding some bass.

The Calcasieu River has been tough. Out of the handful of times I've fished there, I've only caught a couple bass. I've launched at the nice public launch in Moss Bluff and also at White Oak Park.

Anyway, anyone have any other suggestions on areas to try for bass (or even jug lines)? Nothing quite like fishing a new, unfamiliar area and getting that first bite.

ETA: I'm going back and reading this thread from the beginning. Remembering how excited I was to get my first boat made me smile

I've since upgraded a little to a 16ft with a 40HP (big ballin).

Houston River. Grew up fishing it. Bass can be pretty good there at times.

We launched off of Houston River Road if I remember right, it's been 10 or so years since I've fished there. I'll ask my brother if I talk to him today, he still fishes it.

Thats where I'm talking about. Houston River Road turns into Anthony Ferry where it intersects 397.

Seems like I remember that launch and entire parking lot being under water when I was working at Sasol a couple years ago...

It’s too bad this thread went dormant, it’s full of good info. Now I need to know where to fish in Houston. Looks like the move is imminent for me. Can’t image what it will cost to store my boat.

Need to get the thread going again lol

Ive done some salt water fishing since ive been in LC too, but the wind shuts me down my mid morning bc my lil flat bottom gets thrown around pretty easily. I need to find some marsh canals instead of the big water.

I don’t know much about LC area fishing. But I can tell you where not to fish right now.

Went to my old faithful this week. Little Alabama. Caught 3 bass on Monday, 1 today. My wife tagged along today and we did catch a decent amount of bream, but most were too small. I usually take a week off in April every year around my birthday and make several trips there. Almost always catch a limit or at least close to it. Not this week.

ETA: This was my best one this week

Carencro area. I fish Henderson and spillway mostly and chicot sometimes. I’m really just getting into bass fishing. More of a saltwater guy but tough to get time to go to the camp nowadays

I've been to Chicot a couple times recently, and we caught a few nice fish. That lake can be really tough, but it definitely has some nice fish in there.

I thought it was pretty blatant.

I have to use vacation days to do it, though.
