—-tl;dr: whatcha feed ya dog and when ——-Personally, during the season as soon as I get home after a hunt, I feed. Or as close to 30 min after excercise essentially.
Since I feed once a day, I supplement her with Purina protein bars during hunts for energy. “Her” is a killer 2 year old female that’s doing excellent on her training. I took the season off for personal reasons but managed to continue her training throughout, and she’s doing great IMO. So she had her first season at 8 months on a few wood ducks. (Broke on a lighting duck but did good overall). I feed : (3 cups of Pro Plan Performance 30/20 Salmon once a day around 2-3p.m.)
I usually do her training around this time and feed 30 min after give or take.
-My question is when do y’all feed your field/hunting labs, what do you Feed, and how often/much?

You’ve never had a lab that is worth $59 a bag food clearly ... or a hunting dog for that matter

I feed my two once a day, in the morning. 2cups each of Blue Wilderness Duck blend. They love it. The older lab ate Purina for 8 years and was overweight. When I got the young one almost 2 years ago he was already eating BW puppy blend. After researching the content and quality I switched the old one to BW. HE’s now a slim 82 lbs, down from right at 100 and has a ton of energy.

I feed my Labs Kobe beef NY strips medium rare, & Fiji water, twice daily...

Seriously, Blue, grain free beef currently. Fed 'me Hills Science Diet for years, female no longer would eat it. Made the switch to Blue grain free, she loves it...

Mine lives off the land. Mostly squirrels and the occasional bird.

I feed my Boykin Market Fresh from Costco. Feed 1 time in the morning and he gets 2 cups. It runs $20 for 6lb bag. He stays pretty regular on this food. He has a bowel movement once a day usually at 5:00 pm. Never had a dog this regular before.

I feed my lab right after a hunt cause all he wants to do is be lazy once he eats. I tried that expensive stuff one time and he wouldn't eat it. Get him a big cup of Dog Chow and he is in heaven. He scarf it down then lounge around.
Regular days he just gets fed in the afternoon after he runs around for a while.

Once a day at night when there kenneled. Purina pro plan and they seem to like it. Plus the occasional fish blood line or deer scrap.
