Seems like every year for me, Labor Day weekend signals the timing to get out in the woods for the first time for the upcoming season. Even though its hot, I feel the need to get out there and put a few cameras out, start cleaning up at the camp and getting everything ready for the season. This year is no different. Planning on heading out tomorrow afternoon and have some things to take care of at the camp. Daylight Saturday morning, I'll be in the woods putting out a few cameras to start seeing whats in the area and how high (or low) my standards need to be for the year lol. Anybody else getting out there this weekend or are you waiting for cooler weather?

We smacked the doves the last two days. It’s been so dry in South Texas they were coming to water really good starting around 10:00 am.

I’ve been all fricked up the last week though. Changing the South zone to September 1st vs around the 14th, it being on Tuesday, and Labor Day next Monday

I’m like it’s Labor Day no that’s next Monday this is the national dove opener holiday.

I'm going hog hunting at some point this weekend. I need to go put some cameras up and fill feeders on the few lil private patches I hunt but I keep procrastinating on it. I hate feeders and cameras.

We are not feeding this year and hopefully never again

Tired of night time deer pics and hogs ruining hunts. Going to invest money for corn into food plots.

Dove hunting Saturday until 9amish then setting up shop under a big pecan tree and try that dirty spaghetti recipe that was posted on the food board awhile back except the meat will be 3 rabbits from February. Gotta feed at least 13 people so far. I heard the field has been full of birds this week…guessing a cool front will show up Friday afternoon and scatter them into the 4 winds.

We can’t drive off road on our lease in South Arkansas because of burn ban. The timber lease owners said walk in only, no ATV’s or getting off main roads, no parking in tall grass, no brush hogging. We need some rain…
