Maybe he got his lips smashed in on a hard bumper.

Ronnie Lee is across the line in Ms and a solid trainer.
Ricky Elston in Covington is a solid trainer.

Both of these guys are real good guys in the dog world and have successfully trained many dogs. I believe Ronnie Lee is in Alabama if i'm not mistaken. Ricky Elston (southern tide kennels) is actually in Carriere, MS but spends a lot of time on the northshore training. I would recommend either depending on which is closer and more convenient for you.

One of the biggest FUP’s I ever made was buying Ricky’s personal dog and selling it to my client. Bet Ricky is on Bart Poseys place training then.
Ricky did time in the sand box teaching our guys how to handle ied dogs.

He has his own place in Carriere now that he trains on, but he uses a bunch of other places on the northshore and surrounding areas as well.

Pretty cool experience getting to train the IED dogs. I respect him for it for sure.

Just be aware that dogs, like people, can be different as night and day. Some almost immediately get it and some have a heck of a time figuring out how to ‘turn off’ the pressure.

If I’m understanding your original post, the trainer has given you (the owner and non-trainer) instructions on how to proceed until the dog goes back to him. Be very careful here. Working a problem dog through FF is no easy task for an experienced pro. You can easily dig a deeper hole if you are uncertain about how to proceed.

Reading threads like this make me glad I train my own dogs but my current YLF was a nightmare to FF. I was a nervous wreck which only complicated an already tense situation between me and the dog. On the bright side though, it didn't cost me a dime for FF or her entire training and further more, I am glad that the only drama is on me as well as the finished product. However, I don't think I will ever FF another dog by myself.

I trained a lab when I was at LSU bc I had plenty of time. He turned out really good. I’m about to get another dog from SOK but planning to use them for training. Will be my first dog to pay a trainer so I’m a little nervous but I’m too busy with kids and business these days to do it right.

I have been corresponding via email with Sucess and he has been having success with his charge.
Da inter webs are great for helping folks with problems IF they listen and take corrective actions.

Yup. I appreciate kemo’s help. I’ve had my dog a little over a week while the train is at some field tests for the rest of this week. He definitely was a beast when I tried this on my own. And being on an elevated area didn’t work for him. Per kemo’s advice, I put him on the floor and cinched his lead fairly tight and put pressure on him. I felt horrible doing it but after 2 days he was understanding the pressure was relieved holding the bumper. Now I reach for his ear and he’s already going for the bumper. He’s doing much better.

Have you decided if you are going to send him back to the original trainer or someone else?
