I was making them but just wound up buying a standard mapping card. It's just a pain in the arse.

If you have windows, super easy to make.

Youtube video on map making
It's a bit time consuming depending on how big an area you are trying to map.

Are the programs still available that you need? I made one a few years back but heard the programs are no longer available.

I use the legend unleashed card.

It's my understanding you need SAS planet and insight map creator. I think I found links to download them, but it's not working-at least on mac. Need to attempt on PC and see if it works that way - if not, then i guess I'm shelling out a bunch of money for the LA1 card. Unless someone wants to hook me up...

The La 1 card is ultimately better. I made a few of my own with insight and even sold a few. There's one with safe paths listed on the map which is helpful. You can get a discount through Don Dubics site. I did hear the standard mapping guy is kind of hard to get ahold in the past few weeks.

SAS.planet still downloads, but does not load maps. I wanted it, because you can get navionics maps.
I found a patch in Spanish, but it did not work either.
Now I have the shits and my computer is speaking Spanish.(Not really, but it was sketchy so I'm running virus scans and malwarebytes as we speak)
ETA: I have Global Mapper Pro at work, so I can export any map imagery or vectors (boat lanes) in any format. The ability to get navionics topos from SAS.planet is what got my interest. I just can't get it to work as of now...

It's actually been a while since I made one...I've just been using the ones stored on my computer.

SAS Planet still works. Messed around with it after seeing how shite the aerials were for Navionics+ premium. Debating on whether or not I want to make my own with SAS.
