What was the cost or permit fee? Is this a free "on your own" hike, non guided? Suggestions on accommodations/ where to stay? Fly into where?
What's the skinny on this-I thought about going to Rainier or the Pac NW but this looks awesome!

Zion has plenty of hikes and sights you could see with a 6 year old without really getting into the extensive hikes of the back country. You might also look into Arches NP out that way, which is even more accessible.

Is this trip possible as a family trip? Like one that includes a six year old, girl. Or is it way too much hiking for that age group.
There are plenty of short easy trails and in both parks in the evening there were deer all over the place so I'm sure she'd love it.

$25 to access the park for a week. I think backcountry permits to camp at the primitive sites are $15?
Camping sites and lodges within both parks. Plenty of hotels and motels just outside park border. Fly into Vegas or St. George, UT.

On the topic of hiking, Big Bend was very impressive. I highly recommend that park.

Thanks for the information. I have been wanting to make a trip to Zion and Bryce for a few years after visiting St. George, but didn't know if it was appropriate for kids.

Bump
I'm out in Phoenix for work (out of Dallas), and am planning on taking a long weekend out here at the end of the month and driving to Zion. For those who have been - Where did you stay/camp? I think my plan so far is drive up Thursday afternoon, get a hotel room somewhere close-ish to the park Thursday night, then go to one of the no-reservation camp sites at the park early in the morning. Hike Angels Landing and the Narrows, maybe Emerald Pools?
