The question is, can the man holding the gun do it?
Right now that man is happy not to arc flash, burn himself, or set anything on fire. Today's only casualty was one of the small welding magnets I picked up in a 4-pack for $2.99 w/ coupon, had no idea they where made with plastic in the middle of them...

I have been dirt dobbing since I was 8yrs old, and I’m around tig, mig, stick for my vocation day in An day out. For your first welds that’s awesome and if your concerned about busting any of the welds As some posters have said I have some deer stands you can build to validate those beads with.

A very well read rookie but I've never touched a wire feed welder before today and the last time I touched any welder was an old stick welder for about 10 minutes trying to fix a 3-point mount on an old IH tractor about 13 years ago. That weld didn't last 5 seconds.

Maybe someday, first I'm going to cut these practice pieces, polish the weld section, then etch to see what kind on penetration I'm getting. I'm going to screw up my own stuff before messing with anyone else's stuff.

Boy, I ain't never nor will I ever have a weld break. God, clueless, sheeple consumers like you are what companies DREAM of.
Right here is how i know you dont have a clue what you're talking about OR you are just full of shite, like most lifelong welders.
You can lie to your friends about that, but lets keep it straight when talking shop
If you have been a welder that works on various projects for any type of time or project, you have had welds break.
The fact i even posted this is making me wonder if you're just trolling or running off at the mouth

Yeah I'm confused. Did he not understand I was being sarcastic and attempting to imitate the very type of people he is railing (rightly so) against.

Hey Cucker,
You insulting sob.
Did a lil dead blow test for you tonight with some aluminum using the wal mart welder.
Take note of the chitty arse aluminum weld (no really, it's garbage I know, but it's my fault) on my wal mart welder:
>
Take note of the cross section cut. Chitty as it looks, it's a solid weld. Stainless brush, acetone, stainless brush, etc.- the whole 9 yards. You know nothing that I speak of because you are nothing....
Take note of the dead blow test results below, using my $4 HF dead blow hammer that you would've paid $45 for you illiterate cuck. See any cracked welds? Note my note to you:
I kid I kid. I really do. It's all in good fun. I can totally understand the HF hate. I...errr...harbor, much of the same hate myself. I'm just making the point that, from first hand experience, they're reputable welders with proven pressure testing. From tractor implements, to overhead shop cranes and so much more, they're not THAT bad!

You need to hire a grinder at $19.00 an hour

Got three of my own including a big Hitachi 15 amp. Like spackle fixes trim carpentry, I'll use a grinder...

Who knows bud. Seems like he has plenty of free time on his hands to show a random poster the skills he has with his hf welding machine.
Any "welder" that says he has NEVER had a weld break is not a welder to begin with.
He is a bullshitter or he hasnt done any of the shite he is talking about.
The whole reason that REPAIRS are needed are because WELDS BREAK!!
The worlds best robotic machinery make weld after weld with perfection and those break also.

Dick measuring aside, what cheap welder did you use to weld aluminum like that?
Posted on 3/3/19 at 1:15 pm to WHATDOINO
I was being completely sarcastic.
Your suspicions are correct, yes I've had welds break.
HOWEVER, when it's a weld that matters, I go through every step to make certain that it does not, and I haven't had any that I really had to make "count" break.
ETA: I said in an earlier post I was heading to the shop to do some welding. I didn't set out to "show off my HF welder". That phrase is an oxymoron: "showing off" is not compatible with "HF welder". I figured, why not chop a weld in half and dead blow test it to show it does a pretty good job? Plus, I'm trying to get my post count up ;)

TheDrunkenTigah,
That's that little vulcan protig 200 from HF. It's a fine little aluminum tig welder, and it's a great stick welder too.
It's like Clames welder in the sense that it is a part of some of the newer, better quality stuff that Horrible Freight is putting out.
The only thing I don't like about it, is it doesn't have postflow gas cut off adjustments. It's preset at something like 9 seconds- which is fine, because I'd rather have a little too much postflow than not enough.
The extra use of gas is minimal, since a bottle of argon is about $38, but I do use more gas than I technically need to.
Leave it up to HF to get to the 1 yard line and fail to score by not putting postflow adjustments on the dang thing.

Good looking weld. I just bought the titanium 170. Can’t wait to try it out. Hopefully my welds come out that well first try. I haven’t welded a day in my life either. I bought a cj7 that needs some attention so a welding machine was a must
Posted on 3/3/19 at 9:31 pm to Elusiveporpi
I picked up a small spool of Lincoln 211 .030 flux core and grabbed a pack of the BlueHawk brand nozzle inserts, they fit perfectly so it seems getting consumables is really easy for these machines.
