Never thought about that until I was older. Then I took a step further and figured my scent was contained so I brought a flask with me. Years ago, sitting in a boxstand, Blue jeans and regular clothes, flask of bourbon and a dip going and shot a doe at 10 yards with .270

I grew up hunting only in box stands. We never wore camo. My grandpa wore one of those red and black wool jackets. And he has shot more bucks than I have seen.

I hunted half the week in Carthage, MS and half near Meadville. Tons of deer on camera, all at night. Food plots look they’ve been mowed, but virtually zero sightings.

Had a doe first light at the feeder
Was looking for 2 large 8pts we've seen on cameras
Have a ton of does on cams too
Saw 2 knob heads and small 4pt together and a spike an hour later
Shot the spike

This little 5pt kept me company most of the afternoon. Started dicking around with scope and camera since I couldn't shoot him.
Then I saw 2 does run out just before dark and took off. Knew something was right behind them.
