Madison Parish
Box stand on long lanes

Saw great rut action from this stand morning and evening yesterday. Hoping the super 6 pops out a bit closer to me today. Looked about 20” wide. Regardless, I’ll enjoy the show.

Area 2
28 nosler
Last hunt up here this year. Going back to work for a week, then off another week to chase some area 6 bucks.
Had a guy tell me he’s been hunting where I hunted yesterday, for the past week. So I let him have it. I tried to go to another pipeline but after probably 3/4 of a mile I hit deep water, had to back track to get around, ended up getting in the woods heading to the pipeline and got tired of walking. So I just sat down in the most random of spots. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen.

Congrats on the good sportsmanship, A Bear. He’s got no more right to the spot than you do, but you did the right thing. Also, good job on passing the half rack. Maybe he makes it. He wouldn’t have made it if you shot him.

Well my random spot almost paid off. I was looking to my left, then looked over to my right and see hind legs, everything else was behind some brush. Probably 40 yards away. From the size, I knew it was a buck. I slowly started easing my gun off my lap and he took off, blowing. I didn’t see any characteristics other than he was outside the ears. Talk about a kick straight to the nuts. This season has me pretty defeated

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in deer hunting is you’re only 5 seconds away from going from worst season ever to best season ever. Hang in there

Left the house at 1:30 and made it just in time for the morning hunt. First time back in the area since last season. Missed a nice buck at 28 yards. This one stings

Of course I’m on call this week with this cold blast coming. FML!

I’ve been having a nice 8 on camera every 4 days. If he’s on camera tomorrow, I’m letting the wife know I’m going hunt on Christmas Eve.

We’ll celebrate the weekend before. She’s very easy going.

Maybe when the kids were younger, she may have given me a little grief about missing stuff to go hunting. After 18 years of marriage and 3 kids she looks forward to hunting season. She gets left alone by me and gets to watch chick flicks on Netflix.
