Hopefully the pattern continues and they're still comfortable stepping out early..

That's a Gigem and Geaux Tigers!

He stepped out really close about 4pm and that was it.

Good luck OB Baws

Bow hunted today and saw three does run by around 10:15am. No bucks followed. Rubs all over the place, though.

at the state line same side as you.

Lil cit got his first deer. 100 yards through pine straw and thicket without a drop of blood, but we got her.

It’s been a cool 2 days, but I respect and appreciate my dad a lot more and know why I got fussed hollered at when I was his age. He missed an absolute man last night, no emotion, first really hunt carrying a gun. Looked for blood/deer for about an hour and a half last night and again this morning, pretty sure he missed, but kicking myself for not having my own gun up to shoot the deer.

Went back this evening and he started shaking as soon as the doe came out. Put a pretty good shot on her, just a touch low. she went about 125 yards, zig zagged for about an hour and found her piled up before we found the first drop of blood. Dude was down on himself for the last 45 minutes of trailing after the night before, I was confident we’d find this one, but was trying to figure out how to break it to him without ruining it for him.

This deers insides were destroyed, zero blood, but… he caught her in both front legs. Back and up an inch and a half and I think we would have had plenty to follow. I’m still going get a box of partitions for the .243 before we give up on it.

Have you tried the Barnes TTSX? I have a box of the bullets to reload in the 243. Let me know if you’d like some.

Those or Barnes TSX will fix your problem.

I’ve got boxes of sierra game kings, and I’ve killed probably half my deer with them in the same gun he shot it with.

Little to no blood, was why I over compensated and got a 7 mag in my 20s. I went looking for partitions, at the gun store on the way up, but they didn’t have them or the barnes so I grabbed the custom lite in SST, figured it might slow it down a touch to give it a chance to expand, well this one disintegrated through the shoulder. If he puts it behind the shoulder instead of in the shoulder I think we get at least a small trail, but that’s the thing about an 80lb 10 year old behind the barrel. All in all, showing him that we don’t just stop looking without blood, or wait on a dog was cool. Need to get him on a good trail to train him right though.
