I have been searching for a 5'6" one piece spinning fishing rod. Outside of some really cheap ones, I have not had any luck. Plenty of two piece out there. Would prefer to keep it $100 or less.

I purchased one like this a couple years ago. Pretty good little rod.

No 5'6" at Academy. They actually have a good website where you can filter by rod length.

You can search BPS by rod length. I just did, and at 5'6", I would go with the BPS Micro Lite or the Fenwick HMX if staying under $100.

It's possible I purchased mine from Bowie's.

Edit to add: I don't think it was a BuCoo, though. Think it was an HD.

I just thought of them also. The Fenwick is a two piece. Looks like for one piece it is the BPS Micro Lite or the Johnny Morris CarbonLite 2.0 which is $119.

Just curious on what you are using such a short rod for? I use to use a short on like that for perch, but then switched to a 7 ft ultra-Light rod and never looked back.

I was going to say a St Croix Triumph but they have a 5' and 6' 1pc, there 5'6" is a 2pc. No idea why they would not make that size in a 1pc too

Sac a Lait and some trout fishing under the lights when throwing a matrix mini.

They are not the only ones, quite a few companies are that way.

Why not just glue one permanently?

Seems silly they would pick that one size to only make as a 2pc.

Those are both really good for the price. Micro is the better bargain.

I actually never thought about that, I suppose epoxy would work

My issue with two piece rods is it seems over time they become loose and you eventually start casting half the rod when you make a cast.

I have opened my once closed mind to this. Crappie Stix explained that it's much easier to deal with breakage, as most breaks occur in the top half. So, you can actually buy the top pieces directly from them. I just got my first one in yesterday.

I have been looking at surf rods and that is what I came to gather is not only for ease of transport but they will sell just the top half if you brake them. Also the bottom half might be the same on 2 different rods so you can but a different top section I think.

That is also where I had read about gluing the rods together. Some don't like the 2pc because of them not staying put or coming off so they use an epoxy to make it a "1pc" rod.

If you can compromise and use a 6' rod, the Panfish Elite(BPS) is my favorite of everything out there right now. I have two in different lengths, and I reach for them over everything else I have, and I have a lot

I have a TFO spinning rod and the ceramic eye inserts always pop out of the guides. I have talked to some others that have the same issue. Once these inserts start falling out it becomes a decision if it's worth sending back and getting a replacement under warranty and paying that cost. If you are good at wrapping on new eyes then they are an alright choice.
