Hell no I wouldn’t cook a dog turd on that chargriller “pro”. I wouldn’t disgrace my home with its presence.

Four hours isn’t alot of time, I’ll spend more time picking up and assembling and seasoning a new one. If I can restore this one in similar time, I don’t see the advantage of buying new. And I have sentimental attachment to this one.

Those of you with constructive advice, thank you.

Remaining question, recommendation on specific drill attachment to work off some of the rust, smooth out a little before adding the O-whatever stuff?

I’d use an angle grinder over drill, Carbon steel brush to knockoff the big rust, then sand and paint.

Good luck then, it’s gonna suck trying to get pressure or make fast progress. Right tool for the right job IMHO.

Hell I’d go get A $15 one from Harbor Freight if it was me...

Just restored. Cajun cooker grill. Used a angle grinder, wire cupped brush, wiped it down with paint thinner. Then put on a couple coats of hi temp paint. Looked pretty good when done.

And mine looked a lot worse than yours starting out.

Very salvageable. Have had great experiences with this paint. F those saying just get a new. Those are the guys with more money than sense. Or the guys with new trucks in front of their rundown double wide. Aka no concept of money.

To clean before painting...a good job (like most) is all in the prep work.

Ospho is better than a wire brush. Also WAY quicker.

IMO it's going to come down to you and you only. What are YOU willing to put into it as far as time, elbow grease, tools, new parts, paint, etc... To me as long as it isn't so weak in spots that it's ready to fall apart and the time/money needed is nominal as opposed to buying a NEW grill that YOU like then go for it. Like others have said I think it's definitely salvageable. I don't see the point in spending unnecessary money on items like a new grill if it's not needed but that is me. I also don't need a $1000 grill to make good food either...again that's me. Good luck!

time take a ride to harbor freight. a drill wont spin fast enough to do a good job on knocking that rust off.

Get rid of it and get a pellet grill for about $1000. Rec Tec is a doosie. Noobie with an opinion.

Wouldnt be at all surprised if HF had a grinder for 20 bucks or so. Well worth it in this case.

Eta - $15. Pretty damn cheap
