Was squirrel hunting in Kisatchie once, eyes in the canopy, when i stepped over a log. Felt some thrashing, looked down and my left boot was on the head of a small copperhead. Best vertical leap I have had in years, and i did not soil my pants, though i came close. Only close call i have had in years, unless you count hiking in Sicily Island Hills in my Chacos, scaring up two cottonmouths in high grass. Felt kind of scared there too, but my snake karma is good. The rest of you snake-killing pussies are going to get bit if in similar situations.

I let more snakes go than I've killed, I just like to play devil's advocate in these threads. I only kill them around the house or if I want an excuse to shoot at something in the woods. When I'm hunting I'll rarely shoot them if I can easily get around them.

The 5' canebrake we saw in mid-step over his long arse. I had Mickelson-like verticle even with a stand on me back.

May be the most vile, rude thing I've ever seen you say on here,.... I like it

Another argument on to-kill or not-to-kill snakes. That makes like 4 weeks in a row.

Do your kids own shoes?

Forgot about that. One of the most docile critters I've seen. Supposedly common with canebrakes(lack of aggression).

When my cousins and me were little we would always run down to a gravel pit near the campground we stayed at in the summer. My parents would always crank the three wheeler to get us to come back, cause we knew we'd get to ride it. One such time, we all three heard it crank at the same time, and started racing back up the trail. Bout halfway up this red clay trail we all three run over what we thought was a pine limb. The last cousin screams just as he's clearing it, and a two foot DB curls up and makes us aware he's there. We all three decided to wear shoes for the three wheeler ride.

Those stories about how men get bit on the scrodum by a plumb dwelling serpent while taking a dump, ALWAYS keeps me on the look out.
