I'm thinking about buying one for my dad come Christmas time. He's got an old PP from the WWII era (.32) that he loves, and I kind of want to get him one he can go shoot more often. I've read a few things that say the S&W version is garbage. I've also read that Interarms made a decent version.

Basically just trying to figure out which current model (ppk, ppk/s) most resembles the original PP.

and TIA

Either the PPK or PPK/s share the same basic design. They're great guns but I heard the snappy .380 ACP isn't all that fun to shoot. This could only be hearsay though as I've never shot one.

If I were to get a Walther, I'd get the PPQ. But then again, you can't beat the classic looks of the PPK.

Yeah if it was for me I'd probably get the PPQ.

I need to find somewhere to rent a newer one so I can see the difference.

The PPQ is supposed to have one of the best striker-fired triggers out there. I have only been able to hold one but it felt very comfortable.
