Thompson center encore
or the new Thompson bolt action.
I believe it was Bar d that bought 1 of the new Bolt actions.
I have an encore and love it but they're not for everyone.

Is the encore the one with interchangable barrels?

One of my friends got the new Thompson center rifle during the season. Hers is a 7mm-08. It felt very well balanced to me and it shot good enough for her to kill 2 deer with it.

That being said I've recently fell in love with a rifle made by FN. It only comes in 308 and 300 wsm, but it shoots .25 MOA at 100 yards straight out of the box. 1400 dollars is the only drawback but I'm going to own one.

I've given up. You either understand the subject or you don't. Most don't. And for a hunting rifle, it really isn't important enough to bother .

Thinking about trading my lefty Remington 700 in .270 for one in .308, but really don't think I would ever find someone to agree with that.

I would think the .308 would be the more desirable cartridge, but maybe thats just because thats what I am looking for

I would think around these parts a 270 would be much more sought after than a 308. Most guys want the bigger flatter gun. Just me though.

Do you reload?

Or does this have something to do with ammo availability?

I would suggest a tikka T3 or Sako A7 both in stainless. The tikka I would put a B&C stock on it. Unfortunately the Sako A7 doesn't have a aftermarket stock made by B&C yet. I have 700's, savages, Tikka and Sako. I always like carrying the tikka or sako over the others.
