I will just add this: the stainless / walnut combo for any model is classy and sort of unusual. Highly recommend.

Name your price first and foremost.

There are TONS of great rifles on the market these days in all price ranges, and every single one is offered in .30-06

I'm the recent owner of a Winchester Model 70, and I must say I really do like it.

Good idea. Also, are you 100% solid on the 06? I much prefer the ballistics of the 338 Lapua. This will allow you to take almost any animal in the lower 48.

All of the already mentioned guns are great but I believe that this Sako might be what youre looking for. Decent gun.

I pretty much instantly discredit any post where somebody just suggest what they own.

If the guy didn't state or imply a price and you didn't ask for it, you ain't helpin the man out one bit.

I had an XBolt and really liked it. With that being said, I ended up selling it because once I bought my Tikka I quit carrying it to the stand.

ETA so as not to irritate downshift, I wouldn't choose a Tikka over a Kimber, Sako, or custom job

Good point. I own a 700, Xbolt, BAR, and 7600. I only recommend the first two, though.

Only gun that I have ever sold in my life. I lost money on it and was happier than I was buying it.

Yea no shite.

No price range??? Call some badass custom gun shop with a 6 year backorder and throw him an extra 60 grand to jump the list and have him build you a 4 pound 1000 yard laser beam.

Back on topic though, I can't say I've shot a bad bolt action rifle recently made. I sight in a good bit of rifles every year and they all shoot acceptably these days. The only factors are your tastes and your wallet.

I am flattered that you have such a high opinion of me.

But yes, most guns shoot MOA nowadays. Why does anybody need to be more accurate than that for Whitetail? No clue. Point being, most modern bolt actions, like you said, will be perfectly fine.

Some definitely shoot better than others, some weigh less, some look like ray guns. It's all in what you like.

Personally I think the best bag for buck rifle is a tikka T3 lite. I've yet to shoot one that wasnt sub-MOA and they can be had used for $450.

All the classics like the 700, M70, A-bolt, M77 ruger, cz5something, etc are great rifles with variations to fit all price ranges.

I personally have an A bolt , a 700, and a T3, all are fine guns and you will be happy with any of the above and several others mentioned, as for me if I could only have one it would be the T3 and is not even close
