We had a couple years ago and pulled in a lot of catfish at the house. My old neighbor purchased the bait. He moved away and I don’t know what we used to use,
Now that I have picked up a new box I’m not having any luck catching. I have used some fish pellets and some fish bait from Cabela’s with zero catfish luck.
What should I be using and where can I get it. I live on the Diversion Canal.

Cut up shad or stink cheese. Port Vincent hardware may have so cheese.

The commercial fisherman in DesAllemands are switching from cheese to soybean castings due to the weather warming up.
Actually they are using a mixture of it right now.
You can buy a 440 pound drum of cheese or a 30 pound bucket from Marvin Dempster in DesAllemands. ( second driveway West of the old bridge on North side of road). Also castings.
Memphis Net will ship to you.

Nets and More in Janesville, LA sells something they call Powerbait. It's a mix of soybean meal and stink cheese. It comes in blocks so you don't get dirty or stinky handling it. That's what I've been using this year and it catches very well. Actually about 25% of my catch is carp that are coming to the soybean meal. The other 75% is Catfish.

I use this. It's probably over priced but I don't have to go driving around for bait for a single net.

My slat trap doesn't get baited but it takes a while to get good and slimy before flatheads will move into it.
Ran my net and slap trap yesterday. I kept one nice flathead from the slat trap and two eater size blues from the hoop net.

Hang it upside down about a foot off the bottom and your catch will go way up rather than setting it directly on bottom
