It takes a good while to get used to. You'll have a eureka moment and then your whole outlook on cutting grass changes.

Also, spinning in one spot left dirt spots in my yard. I guess this is normal.

You'll figure out how to not do that. It's hard to avoid if you're really zero turning.

Yeah. You can't zero turn it in soft/wet grass without eating up some turf until you've had lots of practice.

He also said Kubota is coming out with a residential mower for $4500 which will come with a Briggs engine. For another $400 you can get a Kohler engine

Its already out. The one for 4499 is teh ZG124-E-48. 48 inch deck with the Briggs. I have been looking at the Kubota ZG127E-54. That is the 54 inch deck with the Briggs. It is 5299. For 5749 you can get the Kohler. I have been torn between teh Kubota and the Hustler FastTrack 54. The Hustler is 5900. I have asked about the Kubota 3 times on here but no one had any experience with them. Does your friend work in the BR area?

Sorta. It's about a 45 minute drive from Baton Rouge.

If you 'zero turn' without getting the inside wheel rolling backwards it will spin on it and tear the grass. You have to get both wheels moving in reverse, just slightly, then spin the outside will forward around the inside wheel keeping the inside wheel moving backwards. You'll spin right around and never tear the grass.

The Hustler Fastrak has a rebate on it currently. It's only $5499 right now?

Absolutely worth it. I looked at their "residential" mowers, but they just came out and no one knows about their longevity yet. I went with the commercial one for the shaft drive, heavy deck, and Kubota engine. With their 48 mo, 0% financing it was a no brainer. And as long as you're paying the note, the $250 deductible warranty covers whatever happens to it.

I hit a low hanging live oak branch with the roll bar my first time on one. All of a sudden I was looking up at the sky. Took an hour to clean the seat.

I had my first experience with a zero-turn yesterday. Borrowed my neighbor's John Deere Z-trac 60". I have never had so much fun cutting grass. It took me one round in my back yard at a slow speed and then as I went, the steering became much easier. Now I'm definitely gunna have to buy one soon.

I've never seen anything shitty built by Kubota. This fella won't be spending $7500 on a lawn mower though.

We have a kubota diesel with a 72" cut. Frikin awesome machine. Also have a Jacobsen reel mower with 108" cut. Yard is a little over 7 acres with a shite ton of oak trees. kubota works wonders around those things. We can finish off some acreage with the quickness.

My dad is anal to say the least. He had a legitimate tee box installed on the back part of our yard. Made a golf hole along the back side of the yard.. Guess he took it a little too serious with the mower. No BS either
